The anime adaptation of the popular【OSHI NO KO】manga series was one of the major hits of last season, and the series is still exceptionally popular, even though it is on a break. The aesthetics of the series were embraced by the fans, who loved the insight into the world of Japanese Idols, as well as some of the major mysteries from the series. On top of that, the music was truly great and so we were not surprised when【OSHI NO KO】was officially renewed for a second season. In light of that, HIDIVE has confirmed that the second season is coming sooner than expected, as a July 2024 premiere has officially been confirmed.

HIDIVE officially described the series as follows:

When a pregnant young starlet appears in Gorou Amemiya’s countryside medical clinic, the doctor takes it upon himself to safely (and secretly) deliver Ai Hoshino’s child so she can make a scandal-free return to the stage. But no good deed goes unpunished, and on the eve of her delivery, he finds himself slain at the hands of Ai’s deluded stalker — and subsequently reborn as Ai’s child, Aquamarine Hoshino! The glitz and glamor of showbiz hide the dark underbelly of the entertainment industry, threatening to dull the shine of his favorite star. Can he help his new mother rise to the top of the charts? And what will he do when an unthinkable disaster strikes?

The first season of the series ran from April 12, 2023, to June June 28, 2023, and was streamed by HIDIVE, Bilibili, Netflix, and iQIYI outside of Japan. The first season consisted of a total of 11 episodes, including a special 90-minute first episode, which we have already written about earlier. The series is based on a manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, whose 14th volume is coming out this April. Alongside the confirmation, a teaser for the second season has also been revealed:

As far as the crew of the second season is concerned, we know that the returning names include Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project, Asteroid in Love) as the series’ director, Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection Project Episode 7 dance part director and storyboarder et al.) as his assistant director, Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp) as the series’ main screenwriter, and Kanna Hirayama (Selection Project, Rent-A-Girlfriend) as character designer. Doga Kobo is in charge of the animation production.

The cast members are also expected to reprise their roles from the first season, with some new additions which will be confirmed at a later date. Be sure to keep following us for more updates on the series ahead of its premiere.
