A 'Dragon Ball' Theme Park to be Built in Saudi Arabia

We all know about Disneyland, the world’s most famous theme park, as well as both the Ghibli Park and the Ghibli Museum, two locations dedicated to one of Japan’s most prominent animation studios. There are other theme parks as well, but these two come to mind first. But, as things stand, another major franchise might be getting its own theme park, as it has been confirmed that a Dragon Ball theme park is going to be constructed as part of the Qiddiya Investment Company’s project near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A video previewing the design of the theme park has also been released.

At the beginning of March, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passed away, and the news hit the animanga community hard. People all around the world paid tribute to the great mangaka, and with Toriyama gone, the Dragon Ball series will never be the same, although it will most likely continue in the future. The DAIMA anime is still scheduled to be released in 2024, while the Dragon Ball Super manga is on an indefinite hiatus, as we have reported. But not all news is grim, and to show you how and why, we have this video for you:

This is the preview video released by the Qiddiya Investment Company that shows off its planned Dragon Ball theme park that is set to be opened in Saudi Arabia.

As you can see, the theme park promises to be massive, with authentic recreations of numerous anime locations. It will be spread across 500,000 meters and will have rides, attractions, as well as restaurants and hotels, all inspired by Toriyama’s great franchise. One of the best features seems to be a 70-meter-high statue of Shenron, which is also going to be a rollercoaster ride.

We don’t know when and how the Saudi Arabians plan to pull this off, as an opening date has not been set, but if they manage to construct what we’ve seen on the video, then we’re in for a truly magnificent experience that even Toriyama-sensei would be proud of.
