A first look at Netflix’s animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Netflix has finally released the first look at Masters of the Universe: Revelation or the Lords of the Universe: Discovery, as well as the release date of this highly anticipated animated series. It is a direct sequel to the 1983 series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Director, showrunner and executive producer is Kevin Smith.

The script is written by Marc Bernadin, Eric Carrasco, Diya Mishra and Tim Sheridan, while the animation is by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania). Other executive producers of the series are Frederic Soulie (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), Adam Bonnett (Descendants), Christopher Keenan (Justice League, Batman Beyond) and Rob David (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe). The first part of the series with five episodes out of a total of ten arrives on Netflix on July 24th.

The War for Ethernia culminates in Lords of the Universe: Discovery, an innovative and action-packed animated series that continues where iconic characters left off decades ago. After the cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia was broken and the guards of the Gray Skull scattered. And after a whole decade and secrets have separated them, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken gang of heroes and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.

Although the original series was intended for children, Smith focused his on adults who were once fans of the original.

The voices were lent by Chris Wood (Prince Adam / He-Man), Mark Hamill (Skeletor), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Teela), Lena Headey (Evil Lin), Alicia Silverstone (Queen Marlena), Steven Root (fighting cat) and Griffin Newman (Orco).
