The world of video games is a large one and whether you’re into AAA titles or indie titles, there’s always something you will be able to find for yourselves. In light of everything, we wanted to report on an interesting new horror game that might catch the interest of the fans of the genre.
Namely, developer Nullpointer Games is working on an interesting mystery horror game titled The Horror at Highrook, a cosmic horror RPG that will receive financial aid from the developers of Among Us, one of the most popular games in recent years across several platforms, as you know.
The game is already available on Steam in the form of a demo, with a closed beta planned for next year and a full release planned for 2025. In this report, we are going to tell you all you need to know about the game in the hope that we will make it as intriguing for you as possible.
OuterSloth is Innersloth’s indie game development fund and so far, the fund – from the company that brought us Among Us – has funded seven indie games, among which is The Horror at Highrook, the game we are going to discuss in this report.
The game, as said, is available on Steam, where you can play the demo, with more content coming up in the upcoming months. The game will be similar to Darkest Dungeon and will see you – the player – lead a team of occult investigators working on the case of Highrook Manor, the home of the Ackeron family.
The family has disappeared and with so many stories involving occult practices, you have to investigate the case and discover the whole truth. Here is the trailer:
Tom Betts, of Nullpointer Games, the developer, revealed the following piece of information:
I’m delighted to be partnering with OuterSloth. It’s been a rough few years for indies, well, for everyone in the industry really. The Horror at Highrook arose as a result of another larger project deal falling through, and it had been a passion project of mine that had been bubbling away for a few years.

Also, it is worth noting that the game will be inspired by the works of three major horror authors – H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, and Bram Stoker.
Lovecraft is known as the father of cosmic horror and his weird tales involving supernatural dreads have often been the inspiration for horror games, especially his story from the Cthulhu Mythos. Edgar Allan Poe is considered to be the father of modern crime and horror fiction and is generally regarded as one of the best authors of all time.
Bram Stoker, ultimately, is known as the author of Dracula, so you can see why he was also listed as an inspiration.
