Amy Adams Praises Her Successor, Rachel Brosnahan, as Lois Lane in ‘Superman’
Amy Adams is excited to see Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane in the new Superman movie. Brosnahan’s take on the iconic character is part of a fresh DC era that James Gunn is shaping. Adams, who played Lois in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, shared her thoughts in a recent Vanity Fair interview (see below).
Adams expressed her view that superhero roles are like theater, with different actors bringing their own spin to characters.
She’s eager to see Brosnahan’s performance, especially her sense of humor. Adams thinks Brosnahan’s natural comedic timing will shine as she brings Lois to life.
The new movie will take a different direction under Gunn’s guidance, focusing more on comic elements and Silver Age influences. Brosnahan herself is thrilled to play Lois, a character she’s always admired.
She describes Lois as ambitious and fearless, always striving to get the best story, no matter the cost. Brosnahan also highlights the changing world of journalism. In today’s age, print journalism is losing ground, and she sees Lois as someone committed to keeping it alive.
She hints that her version of Lois will show her determination and drive, especially when things get tough. Adams was asked whether she had any advice for Brosnahan, and she said: “Just have fun. Just have fun, and I’m sure she will. She’s wonderful, and I hope she gets to bring her sense of humor to it. She’s got such a great sensibility, such a good actress, but also such great natural comedic timing, and I hope we get to see some of that in it.”
The movie’s cast includes David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and others like Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 11th.
