Ana de Armas Provides Us With an Update About the ‘John Wick’ Spin-Off ‘Ballerina’
The John Wick franchise became a cultural phenomenon after the release of the first film in 2014. With its intricate characters, interconnected plotlines, and elaborate action sequences, the John Wick franchise has become one of the most popular action movie series of all time, being loved by fans all around the world.
The franchise has been getting bigger since the fourth movie, and while the main film series seems to be over, spin-off movies are planned.
Now we finally have an update related to the highly-anticipated spin-off movie starring Ana de Armas, which promises to take the whole franchise in a completely different direction.
The movie is titled John Wick Presents: Ballerina, and while it’s been a while since we had some precise updates about the movie, it is still scheduled for a 2025 release. In a recent interview with Collider, Ana de Armas finally provided us with a proper update related to the movie, which will certainly make a lot of fans happy.
In case you do not know, John Wick Presents: Ballerina is a movie that will serve as a spin-off from the main series. The movie is directed by Len Wiseman and is currently scheduled for a June 6, 2025 release.
Written by Shay Hatten, the story follows ballerina-assassin Rooney as she hunts down those who murdered the family; narratively, the movie will be set between the third and fourth John Wick movies.
The film will star Ana de Armas as the titular Ballerina, but we are also going to see Anjelica Huston as “The Director,” Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Gabriel Byrne as the unnamed main antagonist of the film, Lance Reddick as Charon in his final, posthumous role, and Ian McShane as Winston Scott. Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and David Castañeda will also appear in as-of-yet unspecified roles.
As said, it has been a while since we’ve had some updates related to the movie, but Ana de Armas finally provided us with some news during her talk with Collider magazine. Here is what she said:
All we did in those reshoots had to be there. We got amazing footage. It’s really spectacular. A trailer is coming out soon, I’ve been told. I saw it, and it’s beautiful. I’m very proud of it. It’s really exciting. It’s dangerous, it’s sexy, it’s very John Wick . I think people are going to be surprised. I’m biased. Of course, I like the movie, but I think it’s really cool. It’s going to be amazing.
