Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 premiered on March 26, 2024. The sequel premiered not long after the studio behind the original one announced the so-called “Poohniverse,” a horror take on numerous popular children’s classics, which we have already written about here. The first movie has been, as you will probably remember, panned by critics as one of the worst films ever made, but with a movie that had a $50,000 budget, the film earned an incredible $5.2 million globally, so it was only natural that a sequel would be made.
The movie premiered two days ago, as we have said, and while it was better received than its predecessor, which is probably the result of an increased budget (although it’s still a low-budget slasher, don’t get your hopes up), it still received mostly negative reviews. Still, it seems that the income has been great once again as just two days after the sequel’s premiere, a third film was already confirmed, Variety reveals.
Yes, you’ve read it correctly. Against all odds, against all the negative reviews, against every shred of decency, you might imagine, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is in the works, as the studio has fast-tracked yet another sequel, along with those other morbid projects that have been announced.
We don’t know when this movie is going to appear, as the Poohniverse movie is currently the next to be released in 2025, but seeing how quickly these guys are working, we wouldn’t be surprised if the third movie came out next year as well. Whether or not people will see it is a completely different thing, but it seems that the franchise is doing quite well financially.
As of the time of writing, this is all the information we have for you. The second movie is currently screening in a limited number of movie theaters in the United States, and the franchise seemingly has big plans for the future, as such fast-tracking of sequels is certainly a phenomenon we’re not used to seeing in the movie world. We’ll bring you the latest updates as they are released, which, based on what we’ve seen, could be soon.
