Armie Hammer Says His Career Is Doing so Well He Is Forced to Turn Down Roles

Armie Hammer is rebuilding his acting career and says he’s now picky about the roles he takes. On the podcast Your Mom’s House with Christina Pazsitzky and Tom Segura, Hammer shared that he’s been turning down projects, which he described as a major personal win after years of controversy.

He revealed his first rejection after a four-year absence felt like a powerful moment. His return to acting includes the period western Frontier Crucible, where he stars alongside Thomas Jane and William H. Macy, directed by Travis Mills and produced by Dallas Sonnier.

He also mentioned five upcoming projects, with filming in Croatia this month and the Philippines in the spring. Interestingly, Hammer doesn’t have an agent and relies on his lawyer, Todd Rubenstein, to handle offers.

Hammer reflected on the challenges of rejoining Hollywood, admitting it’s a slow process. According to him, people in the industry are beginning to shift their perspective, saying, ‘Man, that guy got fucked,’ which he finds encouraging.

The actor’s career took a hit in 2021 after explicit texts and allegations of misconduct surfaced. A woman named Effie accused him of rape, while others described emotionally abusive behavior. Hammer maintains the relationships were consensual but admitted to being emotionally harmful. Prosecutors in Los Angeles dropped the case in 2023 due to insufficient evidence.

Hammer admitted he felt disconnected from his public image as a wealthy, polished Hollywood star. He described feeling like a ‘creature,’ saying this identity crisis fueled his darker behavior. When the scandals broke, he was left panicked and overwhelmed by the backlash.

Despite the turmoil, Hammer is focused on rebuilding, including launching The Armie HammerTime Podcast last year. He believes his comeback is just starting, though he knows it’ll take time to fully recover in Hollywood.
