Author Makoto Yukimura Confirms That the Final Chapter of ‘Vinland Saga’ Is Not That Far Away

Ever since its debut on April 13, 2005, the Vinland Saga manga by Makoto Yukimura has consistently managed to remain among the top-tier manga series currently being published. The series is both a shōnen and a seinen work, as it effectively combines traditional elements from both groups. Yukimura has put a lot of effort into creating the manga, and while we’re dealing with a situation in which a Japanese man is writing about Vikings, we can only compliment him on the historical accuracy and the research he has put into crafting this amazing and highly popular world of his.

But, while the anime series boosted the popularity of the manga and made it known to a much wider audience, it seems – according to Yukimura himself – that the manga is going to end relatively soon. Don’t worry, we don’t have a date just yet, so it is going to be around for a while, but Yukimura has confirmed that the manga is nearing its end.

This was confirmed via the author’s official Twitter (now X) account, as he left a message to the fans that looks like this:

You probably don’t speak Japanese, but we can confirm that Yukimura said, in the first line, that the “ultimate episode” (referring to the chapters) is not that far away. Of course, Vinland Saga is not ending really soon, and it will be around for a while, but Yukimura is slowly preparing us for the end.

This probably doesn’t mean that Vinland Saga is going to end before 2025, possibly even 2026 (we know that Oda has been talking about the end of One Piece for years now, and this is the third consecutive year in which Jujutsu Kaisen is supposedly ending), so there will be time to enjoy the series.

All things must come to an end and we all knew that Vinland Saga wasn’t going to last forever, but still, hearing it from Yukimura self made us a bit sad. Nevertheless, this means that we simply have to enjoy the series even more, as we are sure that Yukimura is going to provide us with a very exciting conclusion to the story.
