‘Avengers 5’: Top 10 Actors Who Can Replace Majors as Kang the Conqueror

Share:

Right now, you probably already know that Jonathan Majors is out as MCU’s Kang the Conqueror after Disney decided to axe him from the role when he was found guilty of the crimes he was charged with. This was such a shame because Majors did an excellent job as Kang in the ‘Loki’ series and in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ where he was introduced as the next big threat to the Avengers.

With the next ‘Avengers’ movie looming in the corner, there is a massive hole left by Majors because he can no longer play this role due to his actions. Disney now has to find a new actor who would be more than willing to step up and play the role left by someone who was actually perfect for it. So, with that, here are the top actors who we believe can replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.

10. John Boyega

John Boyega should be an obvious choice for a lot of different fans because he is still beloved for his role as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy despite the fact that he wasn’t exactly happy with how Finn’s storyline in Star Wars ended. He no longer wants to work with Lucasfilm for another Star Wars project, and it seems likely that this extends to the entire Disney banner.

He once said that he doesn’t want to do roles that are similar to the ones that the MCU offers him because he wants to lend his talents to original indie films instead of bigger companies. Boyega wants to be a more versatile actor, and we can’t blame him if he doesn’t want to step into the role of Kang.

9. Ray Fisher

Ray Fisher is no stranger to superhero films because he actually did a good job as Cyborg in the ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film that wasn’t exactly well-received but was still good enough for us to see how well Ray could perform in the role of a superhero. Of course, we know that Kang is not a superhero, but Ray playing him is still a possibility, especially because he has proven that he is a versatile actor.

Cyborg was an awesome character in the DCEU, and it’s such a shame that Fisher wasn’t able to bring the full potential out of the character due to his differences with the higher-ups of the DCEU. Nevertheless, making his way over to the MCU could be a good way for Ray to re-enter the world of superhero movies, albeit as an antagonist.

8. Idris Elba

Idris Elba may be on the older side of the calendar but we know that he is an excellent actor who could bring the same range and emotions that Majors was able to put into Kang. He is an imposing presence and an experienced actor in the industry, and it goes without saying that he has had his fair share of roles in superhero movies, especially after his starring role in James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad.’

Of course, Elba isn’t going to get any younger, but he is far too good of an actor for anyone to simply brush off due to his age in comparison to the much younger Jonathan Majors. He did already play a character in the MCU (Heimdall), and that could be the biggest challenge for him and Marvel Studios.

7. Will Smith

Like Majors, Will Smith isn’t someone who is innocent when it comes to controversies, but his actions weren’t entirely warranting him getting blacklisted from Hollywood. Smith is still a fine and versatile actor whose roles have landed him awards. Of course, like Elba, he isn’t on the younger side of the calendar, but he can still pull off a role that was meant for a younger actor.

He has been around for decades, and Smith has never been shy of bringing his brand of acting to certain roles. Seeing him stepping into the shoes of Kang could be a sight to behold, but there aren’t any certainties in relation to whether or not he is ready to take on new and bigger roles ever since the Academy Awards incident.

6. Chukwudi Iwuji

Chukwudi Iwuji has already allowed us to see his range as an actor in a superhero movie when he played the role of the High Evolutionary in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’ His performance was so great that it was one of the best parts of that film, and it was clear that Iwuji was born to play the role of a powerful villain.

The fact that he has already had a role in the MCU is the biggest challenge that needs to be addressed, but there are rumors that Iwuji’s High Evolutionary was actually a Kang variant if ever the MCU were to give the role to this great actor. Then again, that’s just wishful thinking on the part of many fans.

5. David Oyelowo

He isn’t the most popular actor on this list, but David Oyelowo is someone who has had a good career as an actor, especially in his roles in numerous critically-acclaimed films, such as ‘The Butler’ and ‘Selma,’ where he actually got nominated for Best Actor in the Academy Awards. This means that there’s no doubt that Oyelowo is a fine actor who could bring life to the characters he plays.

So, even if he is known more for being a theater and prestige film actor, he still has enough versatility in him to play a role as unique yet as imposing as Kang the Conqueror. If anyone can do it, he can.

4. John David Washington

He may have started off as a professional football player, but John David Washington was able to make the quick transition from the life of an athlete to an acting career. His first role was in HBO’s ‘Ballers’ series, wherein his acting career really took off.

Ever since his role in ‘Ballers,’ Washington has become one of the most coveted stars in the industry. However, he is still missing that one big role that would catapult him into superstardom, and appearing in the MCU as the next big villain could change life for Washington. We don’t know how well he would do in this role, but he has shown a good amount of versatility as an actor in his previous projects.

3. Lakeith Stanfield

Lakeith Stanfield was able to break into the world of acting in 2008 when he appeared in the short film ‘Short Term,’ which was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who has had a role in the MCU as the director of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’ In short, the MCU connection is already there because Stanfield knows someone who has already worked with Marvel Studios in the past.

Of course, Stanfield became known for high-quality drama roles, especially after he made a big splash in ‘Judas and the Black Messiah,’ which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He became known for roles that are incredibly human, and he could give that same kind of humanity to a deep character like Kang, who needs to be able to evoke sympathy from the audience as a flawed yet understandable villain.

2. Regé-Jean Page

Making a big splash in ‘Bridgerton,’ Regé-Jean Page rose to fame and became one of the hottest actors in Hollywood due to his masterful performance in that Netflix series. He has since had a role in ‘The Gray Man’ and ‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,’ where his versatility and suave acting shone brightly.

It may be odd seeing him in the role of a villain in the MCU, but Page has the acting chops and the presence to take on such a task. We know that Marvel Studios loves taking rising stars to make them even bigger, and this could happen to Page if he were to give the role of Kang a consideration.

1. Caleb McLaughlin

While Caleb McLaughlin is on the younger side here, the good news is that he is the perfect actor to grow into the role of a villain who might appear in many different MCU movies for a long time. McLaughlin broke into the scenes with his role in ‘Stranger Things,’ and he has been on the rise ever since.

He isn’t exactly a teenager anymore, but Caleb McLaughlin could play a younger version of Kang, especially if the rumors about Iron Lad, a young Kang variant, appearing in the MCU are true. Caleb can step into this role as a younger Kang, and Marvel Studios can get an older actor to play the older version of the Conqueror. But if Caleb were to play both roles, this could be a role that he could grow into for decades.
