As far as DC Comics is concerned, we know that Superman and Batman are the publisher’s biggest characters. The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight have been pillars of DC’s stories for decades now, and both of them have also led the changes in the superhero comic book genre during that same period.

Superman, as you probably know, debuted in Action Comics #1, which was published on April 18, 1938, while Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27, which was published on March 30, 1939. Both these characters subsequently got their own series, with Superman #1 debuting in June 1939, and Batman #1 debuting in Spring 1940.

As you know, both series have been relaunched over the decades, so both Superman #1 and Batman #1 appeared on several occasions, DC Comics has just confirmed that 2025 will see a new relaunch of both ongoing series, and here is everything you need to know about it!

As you know, comic book series go through cycles, and after a cycle is launched, a series is often relaunched, starting with #1 for a specific title. This happens to all series and it is nothing out of the ordinary, so fans shouldn’t be worried.

This allows the publishers to change up the style, explore and evolve new stories, but also to respect the legacy of the previous storylines, keeping them intact. And that is what is going to happen in 2025.

As far as Superman is concerned, the relaunch is seemingly connected to the premiere of James Gunn’s Superman film, at least in terms of the dates concerned. The relaunch will coincide with the premiere of Gunn’s movie, but we don’t know how the stories will be connected if they are connected in the first place; this is something that remains to be seen in the future.

As for Batman, the idea to relaunch both series was connected with 5G, but everyone rejected the idea when Batman was in question, so they simply continued the story. Now, this will come to an end following Jeph Loeb’s, Jim Lee’s, Scott Williams’, and Alex Sinclair’s upcoming Batman: Hush 2 run on the series, which will run from Batman #158 to Batman #163.

And this is all we have for you as of the time of writing. DC hasn’t revealed much, but fans of both series will be able to enjoy a new narrative continuity in 2025, something that will bring us new adventures, new story arcs, new characters, and new artists, so we are definitely looking forward to seeing the new direction of both of these epic series.

Of course, we are going to keep you up-to-date with this, so be sure to keep following us.
