When Batman Ninja was first released, it was something that Batman fans had not seen before. The anime movie not only provided a different culturological interpretation of the Caped Crusader, it also provided us with a uniquely interesting film that completely shifted the perspective on DC Comics’ most popular character. The movie was originally released to praise and now, six years after the original, 2018 release of Batman Ninja, it has been confirmed that a sequel would be made, continuing the story of the first movie. The sequel is officially going to be titled Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League and will continue the story of Batman Ninja.

At this moment, information about the project is scarce and we only have an official logo for the movie and some casting information. This is a relatively new announcement, so we have not received too much information yet, but this will certainly change in the future.

Batman Ninja sees Batman and his closest allies end up in feudal Japan, where their worst enemies have also been sent. There, Batman and his friends have to adapt to the new setting while, at the same time, discovering and stopping the plot of his most detested enemies. The movie was a visual spectacle and it provided us with some wholly different perspectives on well-known characters.

And while Batman Ninja was a candidate for a sequel from the very beginning, it wasn’t until recently that the sequel has – indeed – been confirmed. We don’t know much about the story, but from what we can infer from the title, this will be a more gritty, down-to-earth story in which Batman is going to face the Japanese mafia. It could be that this will somehow be tied to the League of Shadows and Ra’s al-Ghul or perhaps some other Gotham City mobsters, but we’ll have to wait and see, as nothing has been confirmed officially yet.

As for the returning crew members, we can confirm that Junpei Mizusaki is back to direct the movie after having directed Batman Ninja, this time joined by Shinji Takagi. Kamikaze Douga is back as key animator, while the script will once again be written by Kazuki Nakashima. Other returning crew members include character designer Takashi Okazaki and composer Yūgo Kanno.

As for the crew, Kōichi Yamadera has been confirmed to return as Bruce Wayne / Batman in the Japanese version, but other main cast members are also expected to return, although this hasn’t been confirmed yet. This is what we have as of the time of writing, but we’re quite excited about this movie, so be sure to keep following us for all the updates!
