If you’re into fantasy, or you have children who are into fantasy, then you’ll probably know what Beast Quest is and how popular this children’s high fantasy series actually is.
Since 2007, which is when the first book appeared, the series has released a total of 180 books (according to Variety) and remains one of the rare examples of a fantasy series that has not been adapted as a major series. But that time is over!
Namely, as Variety reports, global IP powerhouse Superprod Group and international media group and rights owner Coolabi Group have teamed up to bring us a franchise based on the popular series of books. A franchise that will include an animated series as well as several video games.
In this report, we are going to go over all the known facts about the upcoming project, so if you want to know what you can expect and how the people behind the project are going to handle all of this, please keep reading!
The Beast Quest series is focused, at least the original stories, on Tom and Elena, who are fighting to save the Kingdom of Avantia from the evil wizard Malvel. Their adventures include a large number of various beasts, which is where the series got its name from. Of course, the story has explored various aspects of the shared fictional universe, so the overall number of characters is pretty large.
The author is always listed as Adam Blade, but it is a pseudonym used by numerous ghostwriters who are actually writing these books. The 180 titles in the series have sold over 25 million copies and been translated into 30 languages, as per the Variety article.
As for its adaptations, we know that there are three video games, two mobile, and one console game. But the future now seems even brighter, as a new video game series (which we don’t know much about) is being planned, as well as an animated series that will follow the original adventures of Tom and Elena in their battles against Malvel in Avantia.
Superprod is handling the animation via the studios Wheel in Motion in the U.K. The Coproduction Company in the U.S., Red Monk Studio in Italy, Melusine in Luxembourg, and Superprod Animation in France.
It will be a hybrid show, as confirmed, consisting of both CG animation, as well as some traditional forms that the fans will be able to enjoy. So far, 26 half-hour episodes have been ordered, but we still don’t know when they will be released. Wheel in Motion’s Alexi Wheeler said the following about the series:
‘Beast Quest’ represents a key moment for us. This is a beloved brand with immense storytelling potential. With its action-packed narrative and a vast universe of creatures, we are confident that the animated series will capture the imagination of a new generation of viewers, just as the books have done for nearly 20 years.

Jeremy Banks, CEO of The Coolabi Group, also added:
I could not be happier that one of our most successful and much-loved book brands is being brought to life with the exceptional creative team at Superprod. Created by our very own story team at Working Partners and cherished through every book written, ‘Beast Quest’ is a publishing phenomenon that resonates with kids today every bit as much as it did when it first launched almost twenty years ago. We can’t wait to bring the series to screens and devices around the world.
