Despite all of the problems with the project and the changes it made to the canon of the series, X-Men ’97 was a big hit for Marvel; there are many factors that contributed to its success, but we won’t go over each one individually here.

For those who had watched the original series, the excellent storyline and nearly identical animation style of the animated series brought back fond memories.

Naturally, this explains Disney’s decision to renew the show. However, as you are aware, a different creative team than the one that produced Season 1 will produce this one. The original showrunner and creator of the remake series, Beau DeMayo, was fired, allegedly for sexual misconduct, and has since been involved in an internet feud with Disney.

We’ve recently reported on DeMayo’s original plans for the series – which involved Onslaught and Apocalypse – being scrapped by Disney, and the filmmaker, of course, went online to accuse Marvel of not caring for its fans, and some of the fans are actually agreeing with him.

This is difficult to sum up, but we are going to do our best. The cherished original X-Men animated series from the late 1990s was revived by Beau DeMayo.

Fans adored the program, but DeMayo was sacked for reportedly inappropriate sexual behavior even before the revival premiered. Since then, he has been involved in a feud with Disney, and recently, news broke of Disney completely scrapping his plans for the series going forward.

This is strange, seeing how DeMayo had finished Season 2 completely and was close to finishing Season 3 as well, but it is what it is.

In a lengthy Twitter exchange with the fans, DeMayo revealed a lot of details, which we have reported on, but he also used the opportunity to accuse Marvel of not caring for its fanbase:

And while there are always two sides to a story, some of the fans are actually agreeing with DeMayo on this one:

What do you think of this? Does Marvel care about its fans or not? Let us know in the comments below!
