Ranker is a popular place on the Internet where people can rank whatever they want, however, they want, and whenever they want. This is always a fan-focused ranking system, and it is never officially tied to the people behind the projects in question. Recently, a large survey was organized on Ranker, whose goal was to determine the best Batman villains of all time. The list includes almost 100 villains, but in our report, we have decided to list the top ten best villains from the site to provide you with better insight, combined with our original comments and opinions, which will add flavor to the whole report.

Of course, since this is indeed an important list, we have decided to report on it, so we are going to bring you the results by listing the top 10 best villains on this list, from 10th to first place, with the first one being the absolute best one. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

10. Ra’s al-Ghul

With the likes of the Mad Hatter, Solomon Grundy, Anarky, and Harley Quinn not making it in the top ten, this might seem like a strange decision for some, but Ra’s al-Ghul is undoubtedly one of Batman’s most resilient and formidable opponents. He is less straightforward in his endeavors than other villains, but he is not less dangerous and he does deserve to be here.

9. Poison Ivy

The first of only two female villains on this list, Poison Ivy is definitely a character with a background and a character that has a lot of depth. She is also extremely dangerous and popular among fans. Her seductiveness makes her even more dangerous, and the fact that she can control nature is definitely a reason to include her in the list of the ten most iconic Batman villains.

8. Catwoman

Selina Kyle might probably be the weakest villain on this list, but her notoriety is why she deserves to be here. She is one of Batman’s oldest foes, and her intriguing relationship with the Caped Crusader is the main reason why she enjoys so much respect among Batman fans. There is no doubt that she absolutely deserves to be on this list and in the top ten.

7. Scarecrow

Jonathan Craine is the embodiment of fear and one of Batman’s most formidable opponents. A genius driven insane by his obsession with fear, Crane constantly keeps coming up with new variants of his dreaded Fear Toxin to instill even more horror into his victims. He is definitely one of Batman’s greatest villains and we absolutely agree with him being here, although we’d put him in a better position personally.

6. Mr. Freeze

A character whose origins were recreated by Paul Dini in the best possible way, Mr. Freeze became an iconic Batman villain in the 1990s, ceasing to be a campy, ice-pun-related villain. He has one of the best stories in Batman’s fictional universe and is as formidable as he is interesting. Definitely a top-five contender, Mr. Freeze absolutely deserves to be here without a doubt.

5. Two-Face

Two-Face is a villain with a great story in a similar manner to Mr. Freeze, but he has a longer tradition as a villain, and his story is personally related to Batman, which is why the fans probably like him more. He has also been evolving over the years, and there is definitely a lot of interesting stuff to explore in his development, especially from a philosophical standpoint.

4. Riddler

Riddler is, as his name states, a major riddle, and he is a character that most fans love. Regardless of the interpretation, Riddler has always managed to be interesting and is a character who keeps reinventing himself in the same manner with which he invents his traps and comes up with his riddles. He is also one of Batman’s most enduring foes, which is why he definitely deserves to be in the top five.

3. Bane

Due to his appearance, Bane is often a “victim” of stereotypes, i.e., that he is a character who is simply a pack of muscles with no brain. But, on the contrary, he has “broken the Bat,” the only villain to do so, and is known for being extremely intelligent, which is why he remains one of Batman’s most dangerous foes. He is a unique combination of power and wit, which is why he is so notorious.

2. Penguin

Oswald Cobblepot, known as the Penguin, is Gotham’s prime crime lord. He is not powerful, but he holds a lot of power and is extremely dangerous. He also has a great and tragic backstory that gives him a lot of depth, and that is why he is so beloved among the fans of the comics and why we completely agree with him being in second place on this list.

1. Joker

Of course, the Crown Prince of Crime had to be the top pick here, as there is no doubt that the Joker is Batman’s biggest and best villain. He is the embodiment of a proper superhero rival, someone who is obsessed with Batman, but also someone who Batman is obsessed with. He is the one who’s been able to challenge Batman the most and push him the furthest, which is why he deserves to be here.
