Movies that take place during various holidays or on specific ones are always a special delight to watch. Whether it is Valentine’s Day, Christmas or Thanksgiving, these movies give us a certain warm and fuzzy feeling and we can’t escape at least one of them each time. This time we are going to write about Easter movies so we made a list of the 15 best Easter movies on Netflix you can stream right now.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021)

Based on the beloved books by Beatrix Potter, movies about Peter Rabbit always put a smile on our faces and this sequel continues where we left it at the end of the first part. Thomas and Bea are living as a married couple with Peter Rabbit and his family.

But Peter is getting tired of the country life and when Bea and Thomas decide to go on a trip, Peter goes on the run and embarks on a journey to the big city where he meets many strange and interesting characters and ends up creating chaos for his whole family. 

Mary Magdalene (2018)

Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix star in this historical drama set in Judea, 33 AD. We follow the story of Mary, a young girl from the village of Magdala who wishes to live as a free woman, not determined by her role as a wife and mother. After rejecting a marriage proposal, her family starts believing she is possessed by the devil and turns to Jesus for help.

Mary is fascinated with Jesus’ words and personality and decides to follow him on his path to a kingdom of love and peace, which her family strongly opposes. The Shack (2017)

This fantasy drama is based on a bestselling novel by Peter S.Young and it tells the story of Mack Phillips whose youngest daughter Missy has been abducted and presumably murdered. He receives a letter and due to certain proof, he believes it comes from God who wants him to return to a place called The Shack where Missy may have been killed.

Mack decides to listen to his heart, leaves his home, and heads for The Shack for the first time since Missy has gone missing. The encounters and messages he will experience there will change his life forever and make him question everything he believes in.

Come Sunday (2018)

This biographical drama is based on an episode of the public radio series This American Life. In its center is a man known as Bishop Carlton Pearson who became a rising star among evangelicals after being ostracized by his own church.

He was declared a heretic when he began preaching there is no Hell. This movie gives a very good insight into what happens when people completely change their minds, in this case, a preacher, and the consequences they have to undergo, especially in a community full of believers. 

Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979)

One of the best parodies ever made is this hilarious comedy that touches on some of the events from the Bible. It is the story of Brian of Nazareth who was born on the same day as Jesus, but who takes a completely different part in life, but with the same conclusion.

In this story, Brian joins a political resistance movement to get the Romans out of Judea. Somehow he becomes a prophet and gathers his own group of followers, leading an interesting, but unfortunately short life with a sealed fate.

The Young Messiah (2016)

This fantasy drama tells the story of Jesus’ early years when at the age of seven he and his family had to depart Egypt to return home to Nazareth. Jesus knows that his parents are keeping secrets from him, including the ones about his birth and the traits that make him different from other boys.

Shaun’s adventures are always extremely fun to watch and this one is no exception. Shaun will have to go on a saving mission when an alien with great powers crashlands near Mossy Bottom Farm. Shaun is the one to help the intergalactic visitor get home safely.

She is very interesting to a sinister organization that wants to capture her so Shaun has to hurry up to make his mission successful. All of the sheep have grown to like Lu-La, this extremely lovable and friendly alien, and all of them will try and help Shaun with his endeavors. 

Rise of the Guardians (2012)

This cartoon has it all, adventure, mystery, excitement, and a beautiful message. It is a family fantasy comedy-drama about immortal Guardians who are given the task of protecting children from all over the world.

They are faced with the evil spirit known as Pitch who decides to take over the world, which implies crushing and destroying the imagination, hopes and beliefs, and most importantly, the innocence of the children which can’t be allowed. 

Fatima (2020)

This powerful and inspiring drama of faith and hope tells the story of a 10-year-old girl and her two cousins from Fatima, Portugal. After their reports of seeing visions of the Holy Mary many believers find inspiration and solace in this place but the officials of both Church and government become very angry with this notion.

Even though the children are being forced to tell they were telling lies, tens of thousands of believers and pilgrims start visiting this quiet place, hoping to witness a miracle. The experience there will eventually change their lives.

A Week Away (2021)

In this Christian teen musical, we follow the story of Will, a troubled young man who is moving from foster home to foster home, since he is either breaking the law or behaving in other inappropriate manners. After his latest outburst, he has a choice to make, a week at a Christian summer camp or juvenile detention.

And this is when he finds himself at the camp for the first time, experiencing things he never had before in his life, such as finding a friend, a father figure, and a girl he falls in love with, and most of all, he finally finds a place he can call home.

Charlie is one of these kids and he is about to have the time of his life. Or at least he thought so. Johnny Depp delivered a brilliant performance of the mysterious and eccentric Willy Wonka, becoming a worthy successor of the unforgettable Gene Wilder who played Wonka in its original.

He is playing football now to please his father, but he dreams of something else. After an injury that ends his sports career, he decides to sign up for a new elective, which happens to be a music class. Bart reluctantly signs up but ends up loving it with all his heart.

This comedy is, as its title, says, centered around a family that is getting ready for a gathering on Easter Sunday. Full of hilarious moments and funny situations, this is a feel-good movie that will make you forget about your problems, at least for a little while.

Starring Jo Koy as the leading role, it is inspired by his real-life experiences and stand-up comedy where he shares his interesting and fun personal life stories.
