Bill Maher and Jay Leno Discuss the Latter's Gambling Issues and Injuries

Jay Leno has been through a tough few years, suffering a series of injuries that have left him visibly battered. Bill Maher, during a chat on his Club Random podcast, couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation. He brought up a bizarre rumor from the National Enquirer, claiming Leno’s repeated accidents might not be accidents at all.

Maher jokingly referenced a theory suggesting Leno owed gambling debts and was being roughed up by the mob. With a grin, Leno dismissed the idea, saying, ‘I love the idea that the mob would drive to Greenburg, Pennsylvania, wait outside the Hampton Inn on a sleety, rainy day to throw me down the hill.’

Maher played along, teasing Leno further by saying the story wasn’t about a hill but implied his injuries were mob-related. The exchange was lighthearted, but Leno’s history of mishaps has definitely raised some eyebrows.

The latest incident happened in November when Leno was in Pennsylvania. He stepped out of his hotel and decided to walk down a steep, slippery hill to get to a nearby restaurant. Unfortunately, he fell, hitting his face on a rock and badly injuring his eye. Despite the fall, Leno still performed a show just hours later before heading to the hospital.

This wasn’t his first major injury. Back in November 2022, Leno suffered severe burns on his face when a car he was working on in his garage caught fire. The burns were so bad that he needed weeks in the ICU and underwent several skin grafts.

Then, just two months later, in January 2023, he had another accident while riding a vintage motorcycle. A wire strung across a road caught him off guard, knocking him off the bike and leaving him with broken bones and yet another facial injury.

Reflecting on his streak of bad luck, Leno joked with Maher, saying, ‘I got a new face when my face caught fire, then two months later, I had to call my “face guy” and say, “I need another face.“’

Maher couldn’t help but laugh at the Enquirer’s claim that Leno, reportedly worth $450 million, could have gambling debts. ‘That is quite a gambling debt,’ Maher joked. Leno quipped back, saying it would make more sense for the mob to just take one of his cars instead of throwing him down a hill.

Despite all the incidents, Leno continues to laugh about his experiences, showing his resilience and sharp sense of humor.
