Bill Skarsgård Confirms We Are Going to See a “Hardcore” Pennywise in ‘Welcome to Derry’
Bill Skarsgård is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most sought-after stars today. After his success as Pennywise in the two-part adaptation of Stephen King’s It, the actor’s career has been on an upward spiral, with him landing role after role.
And while you might argue that he is taking on more or less identical roles, Bill has been able to provide a lot of substance to whatever movie he appears in. One of his major upcoming projects is the It: Welcome to Derry series, which is going to act as a prequel to the successful film series.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Bill discussed the show and revealed more information about what kind of Pennywise we are going to see in the series, as the actor will return to the world of Stephen King once again after the It movies and Castle Rock.
The whole interview is available on YouTube and we really advise you to check it out, since it’s a really fun and interesting discussion, but if you just want to skip to this part, keep reading!
Bill teased a very different take on the menacing villain, not in terms of how he is going to be interpreted, but rather in terms of how deeply the characterization will go and how menacing he is going to be, saying:
It was fun. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would … and there are parts of it where we got to explore sides of Pennywise that we haven’t seen … there’s some cool stuff in there … I’m excited for people to watch
As you can see, we can expect a different Pennywise, a character who is more menacing and more “hardcore”, as Bill explained in the interview than the version seen in the movies, which is definitely a great thing!
