The Mutants are coming to the MCU! Yeah, yeah, we know, it’s nothing new, as this is a fact we have known since Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Sure, Mutants have already appeared in the MCU in several movies, but the X-Men have not, and while it will be some time before they actually do, we’ve been promised a major moment in the future.

There have been some rumors that Jackman will continue to play Wolverine in the MCU as well, but other casting rumors are basically non-existent. There was the one that Giancarlo Esposito would be playing Professor X, but with him being cast in a different MCU role, this seems unlikely now.

Yet, another interesting rumor – although unsourced – has appeared online, and it concerns the potential casting of Professor X in the MCU. We’re going to reveal everything below, but just to say now – we’re very thrilled at the prospect.

The rumor that inspired this report is actually a tweet that recently appeared. As said, this is not sourced and could be completely made up, so take it with a grain of salt, but allow us to explain what we think about it:

As you can see, the tweet doesn’t reveal much, but it opens up a lot of possibilities. We know that Professor X has not been cast in the MCU and there aren’t many actors who could effectively replace both James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as the leader of the X-Men. And while there certainly are more than just one, we think that Bryan Cranston would really be the ideal choice for the role, if Marvel decides to go with an older version of the character.

Why? Well, the Oscar-nominated actor has proven himself capable of tackling any role. After playing Malcolm’s dad in Malcolm in the Middle, the actor managed to break the typecasting stereotype by appearing as Walter White in Breaking Bad (and some episodes of Better Call Saul as well), a role that led to him being lauded as one of the best actors of his generation. Since then, he has appeared in different roles, and there is no doubt that he would be an amazing Professor X.

He has the wisdom, determination, and fatherly persona that is needed to portray Professor X, and he also looks like the famous X-Men character, which is why we think that he would be absolutely great in the role.

As said, this is just a theory based on an unsourced rumor, but we hope that something does happen in this aspect and that we will eventually see Bryan Cranston in the role. And you? Would you like to see him in the role, or do you have another favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
