Eight Years Later, MCU Fans Still Can’t Agree on Whether Bucky Was Innocent or Not in ‘Captain America: Civil War’
Captain America: Civil War was released back in 2016 as the third solo Captain America movie, but don’t let this fool you, this was a proper Avengers movie, whatever the title and the studio want you to think. The movie adapted the popular “Civil War” comic book arc, but with less scope while focusing on several MCU-related issues.
And while this is still one of the most flawed MCU movies to date – and we still don’t understand how people are not seeing this – it is also a popular movie and a movie that keeps inspiring online debates, as you are about to see soon.
Namely, eight years after the movie premiered, MCU fans are still debating online whether Bucky was guilty, i.e., whether Iron Man had the right to kill him and whether Captain America was right to jump in and stop Tony from killing Bucky. Before you give us your opinion in the comments, read what we have prepared for you.
As you can assume, the focus of this article is going to be the debate we have described below, but how did it all start, anyway? Well, just one tweet was enough:
The take that “Cap was in the wrong” is actually starting to piss me off.

Bucky was innocent and Tony was trying to kill him. https://t.co/KCBXdyPp4o
And as you might assume, this tweet sparked a heated debate, and we are going to bring you the most interesting arguments from both sides now:

This is a worse case of drunk driving. The driver still goes to prison

Cap is obviously right in the movie, why would anyone say he’s wrong.

That’s his mom I’m not saying Tony is in right but he ain’t wrong either, and cap isn’t wrong for defending his friend pic.twitter.com/68gpaBM8tX

Cap LIED to him. That’s why he’s wrong

You niggas that retweet this every other week conveniently leave this out every time
Sure Tony is making an emotional decision but it’s understandable. Cap not telling him made him super mad
1: Bucky was brainwashed, it wasn’t his fault.
— BK (@TBKReturns) August 26, 2024
2: Lmao you wanted Cap to take a seat and let Iron Man murder his innocent friend?
And that concludes this debate. Interesting, right? What do you think of this issue? Can Bucky be blamed for what he did? Was Iron Man right to want revenge, as Bucky killed his mother, regardless of the circumstances? Should Captain America have sided with Iron Man or Bucky?
