Castlevania: The First Teaser for The 4th and Final Season of the Netflix Series
Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the fourth season of the extremely high-quality anime series Castlevania, but unfortunately, it has also announced that it will be the last season. The last ten episodes of the series on Netflix arrive on May 13th. We will surely watch them and advise that if you haven’t already be sure to step into this dark medieval fantasy inspired by Konami’s eponymous video game series.
Castlevania premiered on Netflix in 2017 with just four (fantastic) episodes of the first season. The first two seasons adapted the prequel Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse. The second season boasts a rating of as much as 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also took home the IGN award for best-animated series in 2018. The third season drew inspiration from two different video games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.
Castlevania proved to be a decent hit and actually opened the door to numerous other animated video game adaptations. We fear this amazing TV show is disappearing from Netflix not because it wasn’t good enough, or because it didn’t have enough audiences, but because of accusations of sexual harassment that surfaced last year at the expense of its creator Warren Ellis.
It’s not that we don’t understand the move, but because of that, the series will probably stay hanging in the air at least to some extent. But even though Ellis ’Castlevania is ending there is a very real chance that we are not yet saying goodbye entirely to that world. Reportedly, Netflix wants to get a new series on its feet with different characters that would be set in the same universe. We hope that this will really be realized and that we will find out more about this potential project as soon as possible.
