Conan the Barbarian Wants Into the MCU – And It’s Not as Impossible as It Sounds!

Share:

The Conan franchise started as a pulp magazine story written by Robert E. Howard and has since become one of the most popular and beloved fantasy franchises of all time, consisting of books, comics, movies, animated series, and video games.

Conan the Barbarian is one of the most recognizable fictional characters of all time and it could be time for a new crossover that could make him even more recognizable.

Namely, Conan’s comic book history is a rich one and the character has appeared in comic books published by numerous publishers, including Marvel. And while this new series is not a Marvel one, it could potentially have a significant Marvel connection.

Namely, as it turns out, the story of Titan Comics/Heroic Signatures’ Conan the Barbarian: Battle of the Black Stone #4 introduces a story and some characters who might imply a potential connection between the titular fantasy hero and the MCU, if anyone ever decides to use a loophole from the comics.

Conan the Barbarian: Battle of the Black Stone #4 comes by authors Jim Zub and Jonas Scharf and it actually brings about the end of the current quest led by Conan and his band of warriors gathered from different timelines and worlds.

This is, in essence, a multiversal adventure set in the world of Howard’s Conan, but an adventure that goes beyond the strict limitations of the original world and introduces us to a story that is very much expansive and – because of that – very, very interesting.

Those who have been reading the story will probably know that a large and complex shadow was looming over Conan’s world and that the united heroes had a very difficult job to do, but they finally managed to do it and they managed to discover the source of the problems that had been plaguing their world.

As it turned out, a monstrous demonic entity had a grip on the whole world and threatened to devour it. That is why the multiversal heroes gathered in one place, as they had to defeat the powerful entity and save reality as we know it. After fighting through a horde of demons, they managed to discover the Black Stone, which was the source of their enemy’s power.

Taking care of it, their worlds were saved – although there are still some tasks to do – and they discovered that the entity they had been fighting this whole time was none other than the demonic Shuma Gorath, another exceptionally powerful entity whose skills and abilities are notorious to those who know him.

Another one of Howard’s creations, Shuma Gorath is also the connection between Conan and the MCU, which is what we are going to explain in the upcoming paragraphs!

Namely, as it turns out, Conan and Shuma Gorath were, at one point, Marvel Comic characters, which is what most of you will have known already.

Marvel did not create them, but leased them from Howard’s universe so they technically became part of the larger Marvel multiverse, but they are not really part of the mainstream comics. Well, at least not both of them.

Namely, as it turns out, Shuma Gorath is a character who has a connection with Marvel’s Doctor Strange and he is a character whose transdimensional nature could be used as a loophole that brings Conan the Barbarian to Marvel.

In fact, MCU fans will probably remember the character of Gargantos, who had a brief cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Well, as you might have guessed, Gargantos is none other than Shuma Gorath and if Marvel decides to further explore the character, there is an opening for Conan to also enter the MCU. And while, to be frank, this is just a theory and doesn’t seem likely to happen in the future, we were quite intrigued by this possibility and wanted to share it with you!
