Concept Artist Reveals Another Scrapped Alternative Design for Wolverine that Was Considered for the Movie

Among the three major comic book adaptations coming out this year, Deadpool & Wolverine is actually the only one that fulfilled its expectations as both the fans and critics were satisfied with the final product.

It also became the second highest-earning film of the year. the sequel to Joker failed, and Venom 3 will probably earn some money and gain the sympathy of viewers, but the critics have panned it.

Namely, as it has been confirmed, the official art book from the movie has been released, containing concept art, sketches, and previously unseen materials from the production of the movie. One of these sketches shows an unused variant of Wolverine, which we are going to present to you here.

As you probably remember, Deadpool & Wolverine was a crossover marvel, with many alternative versions of numerous Marvel characters appearing in the movie in bigger or smaller roles.

This was a delight for the fans, a sort of gift to them, and everyone loved it, which we as well have talked about these Easter Eggs extensively. But, as you might assume, despite the large number of Easter Eggs, not every planned Easter Egg made it into the final movie.

There are numerous ideas that got scrapped or rejected, some of which we have already written about, but the recent release of the official Deadpool & Wolverine art book prompted artist Andy Park to reveal an additional alternative version of Logan that was almost featured in the film, but which eventually got scrapped. Here it is:

If you are, for some reason, unable to see the images or open the link, here is what this Instagram post says:

The Art of Deadpool and Wolverine is officially out! More Wolverine variant concept designs I did for the film. This one was from one of my favorite Uncanny X-Men comic books ever- Issue # 268 by @jimlee@scottwilliamsinks & @chrisclearmountain

What a dream to be able to imagine up @thehughjackman in so many different Wolverine versions throughout comic book history! Honoring both Hugh and comic book creators 🙏🏻

If you’re unfamiliar with this cowboy/Red Dead Redemption/outlaw version of Wolverine, it was featured in Uncanny X-Men #268, which is significant because it actually provides us with the first-ever meeting between Wolverine and Captain America. Looking at it, it is a shame that it did not end up being used.
