Dan Stevens in Talks for Legendary’s ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel Return

Dan Stevens is getting back into the Monsterverse. The actor, who played Trapper in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is in talks to return for the next movie in Legendary’s blockbuster franchise.
This time, I Am Mother director Grant Sputore is leading the charge. The film already signed No One Will Save You star Kaitlyn Dever, bringing fresh blood to the series. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Legendary promises ‘new human characters’ and another high-stakes battle featuring Godzilla and Kong against a disaster-level threat.
In Godzilla x Kong, Stevens made a memorable entrance as Trapper, a laid-back veterinarian who casually performed dental surgery on Kong, fixing his infected tooth. He later joined the adventure into Hollow Earth, a place filled with massive and deadly creatures.
The Monsterverse has been a box office powerhouse since Godzilla kicked things off in 2014. The franchise has pulled in over $2.5 billion worldwide, with last year’s Godzilla x Kong making more than $571 million—the biggest hit yet. The universe also expanded with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, an Apple TV+ series that got a strong response from viewers.
Stevens has been busy outside of monster movies too. Last year, he appeared in Abigail, a vampire thriller from Universal, and Cuckoo, a horror film from Neon. This year, he’s set to appear in Zero Day, a Netflix series with Robert De Niro premiering February 20, as well as Swiped, a drama about the Bumble dating app founder, and AMC’s horror series The Terror: Devil in Silver.
He also wrapped filming on Onslaught, an A24 action thriller from Adam Wingard, who directed him in Godzilla x Kong. Stevens is represented by CAA, Julian Belfrage Associates, Bailey Brand Management, and Peikoff Mahan.
