Daniel Craig, known for his iconic portrayal of James Bond, will soon receive the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film. This top honor from the U.K.’s leading film critics will be presented to him at the 45th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards on February 2, at the May Fair Hotel in London.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Craig expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘This is such an immense honor and I’m incredibly grateful to the London Film Critics’ Circle.

Rich Cline, Chair of the Critics’ Circle Film Section, praised Craig’s diverse roles, noting that they had admired his work even before his Bond days, as per the same source. ‘We were already impressed with his performances in The Mother (2003) and Enduring Love (2004),’ Cline said.

He added that Craig has consistently taken on daring roles, pushing boundaries throughout his career. This year, he’s nominated for his role in Queer.

Before his rise as James Bond, Craig earned critical acclaim for films like Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon and Road to Perdition in 2002. He also starred in Steven Spielberg’s Munich the same year.

In 2006, Craig made his debut as 007 in Casino Royale, receiving widespread praise. He went on to star in four more Bond films, wrapping up with No Time to Die in 2021.

Recently, Craig has taken on new challenges, such as playing detective Benoit Blanc in the hit mystery Knives Out and its sequel Glass Onion. He will reprise this role in the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man.

Last year, Jeffrey Wright received the Dilys Powell Award. Other past honorees include Michelle Yeoh, Kate Winslet, and Pedro Almodóvar.
