Dark Horse Comics Cancels Neil Gaiman’s Ongoing Series Admist Scandal

Dark Horse Comics has decided to cancel the rest of Neil Gaiman’s latest comic series, Anansi Boys, following sexual assault allegations against the author. The series, adapted from Gaiman’s popular novel, had just released its seventh issue earlier this month, with plans to conclude with an eighth issue in March.
However, the publisher has confirmed that neither the final issue nor a collected trade edition will be released. Marc Bernardin, the writer who adapted the novel into a comic, shared the news on BlueSky.
He expressed pride in the work done by the creative team, including artist Shawn Martinbrough, colorist Chris Sotomayor, and cover artist David Mack, but acknowledged the gravity of the situation.
Anansi Boys is about two brothers, opposites in every way. One is quiet and uncertain, while the other lives only for his own pleasures. They’re two sides of the same coin. That idea didn’t mean much to me before, but now it does,’ Bernardin wrote. He also shared his sympathy for survivors, noting that continuing to publish the series could bring unnecessary harm.
This announcement comes shortly after Vulture published an investigative report detailing allegations against Gaiman, which the author has denied. Additionally, Disney has halted a separate adaptation of Gaiman’s work in light of the accusations.
