DC's Highly Successful 'Absolute' Line Will Add Three New Titles in Early 2025

DC Comics is expanding its Absolute Universe with three new titles. These will debut in March 2025, following the success of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman. The new series will focus on Absolute Green Lantern, Absolute Martian Manhunter, and Absolute Flash.

The Absolute Universe presents a reimagined take on classic DC heroes, portraying them as underdogs who struggle without their usual powers and resources. Each character faces challenges that push them beyond their iconic origins.

The Absolute Universe has already made waves in the comic book world, with Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman both selling out and getting second printings earlier this year. DC Comics even updated the second prints with new cover artwork.

In the Absolute Green Lantern series, written by Al Ewing, the hero will have to fight without the Green Lantern Corps, the ring, or even his usual willpower. This new version is described as the “Absolute Green Lantern,” and the first issue will hit shelves on March 19, 2025.

Meanwhile, Absolute Flash, written by Jeff Lemire, will explore a version of the Scarlet Speedster that lacks crucial elements that typically help him control his powers. Without the Speed Force, the mentor, or the family that Flash usually relies on, this version of the hero will be pushed to his limits. The first issue of this series will also be released on March 19, 2025.

Absolute Martian Manhunter, written by Deniz Camp, will go beyond the usual origin story of J’onn J’onzz. This series promises to show a version of the Martian Manhunter who transcends his physical form, becoming a more powerful and mysterious figure. The debut issue is scheduled for release on March 26, 2025.

There are also hints that the Absolute Universe will introduce some of DC’s most well-known villains. In Absolute Batman, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, and Bane are expected to show up, with Bruce Wayne navigating Gotham in a new way after losing his wealth and resources. We can expect similar surprises for the new Absolute Universe heroes, as the stories evolve in unexpected ways.
