Despite ‘Lanterns’ Rejection, DC Is Allegedly Still Courting Josh Brolin for a Role
In recent months, DC Studios has been working hard to cast the right actors for its upcoming projects. One of their main focuses has been the Lanterns series, which aims to bring the Green Lantern Corps back to the screen.
This series will feature well-known characters like Hal Jordan and John Stewart, blending superhero action with a detective-style story. A few months ago, reports emerged that DC Studios had offered the role of Hal Jordan to Josh Brolin, a seasoned actor known for his roles as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Cable in Deadpool 2.
Brolin’s extensive experience in the superhero genre made him a strong candidate for this part. Despite these discussions, Brolin ultimately declined the offer. He confirmed that talks with DC Studios ‘didn’t work out‘, but it seems that his DC career is not over, according to famous industry insider, Daniel Richtman.
Following Brolin’s decision, as you know, DC Studios began considering other actors for the role before Kyle Chandler, known for his roles in Friday Night Lights and Bloodline, was cast as Hal Jordan. Chandler’s casting brought a new dynamic to the series, and fans are eager to see his portrayal of the iconic Green Lantern. But what does that mean for Brolin?
And while he won’t be appearing in Lanterns, Richmans states, via his Patreon, that DC Studios is still courting the actor for a different role in the DCU. At this moment, there is no precise information about the project and the role, but with Brolin’s experience and genre fame, he would be an excellent addition.
This is a very interesting rumor that once again confirms the DCU’s desire to craft a proper universe and we hope that Brolin and DC manage to find a project to their mutual liking. We are, of course, going to keep following this story, so be sure to keep following us for more updates!
