Lucasfilm is reportedly working on a live-action project set in the Knights of the Old Republic era, popular industry insider Daniel Richtman reports. This period takes place about 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire’s rise. The original 2003 video game introduced us to this rich timeline, which soon became one of the most popular ones.

In 2019, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy mentioned that they were exploring ideas related to Knights of the Old Republic. She said, ‘Yes, we are developing something to look at.’ However, she didn’t provide specific details at that time.

Recent rumors suggest that a project based on this era was being developed before the industry strikes and is expected to resume once the strikes conclude, which is in line with Richtmnan’s Patreon post.

At this moment, it is unclear whether this will be a movie or a Disney+ series, but the latter seems to be more probable if Richtman’s rumor is to be trusted. Previously, you will remember, writer Laeta Kalogridis was reportedly working on a script, but it’s uncertain if she’s still involved.

The Knights of the Old Republic era is beloved by many for its deep storytelling and complex characters. The game follows the adventures of Revan and Malak, two Jedi who turn to the dark side, leading to significant events in the Star Wars universe. Fans have long hoped for a live-action adaptation of this storyline.

While Lucasfilm has not officially confirmed the specifics of this project, the continued interest and development talks indicate that we might see the Old Republic era brought to life on screen in the future. As always, it’s best to wait for official announcements for concrete details, but Richtman’s rumor is definitely a ray of hope in these turbulent times.
