When the Ahsoka series was announced by Disney and Lucasfilm, we all thought that this was going to be a continuation of the storyline of Star Wars: Rebels because both Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn were still alive and were out there in the galaxy. So, when the trailer of the Ahsoka series came out, we were psyched to see that this was going to be a reunion of the characters that we knew and loved in Rebels.

Yes, that means that even Hera Syndulla will be a major player in Ahsoka. In fact, she was revealed in the teaser trailer as well. And Disney and Lucasfilm finally revealed who will be playing Hera in the character’s live-action debut.

Who Is Playing Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka?

Before the release of the Ahsoka series, there were already fans that were speculating what roles the different actors that were announced to take part in the new show would play. Of course, we already know that Rosario Dawson would reprise her role as the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano. We also knew that Natasha Liu Bordizzo would play the role of the live-action version of Sabine Wren in the character’s live-action debut.

Eman Esfandi was also shown to be the actor that would portray Ezra Bridger. We also saw the live-action debut of Zeb during the fifth episode of season 3 of The Mandalorian. That means that only Hera Syndulla was left without a confirmed actor before the teaser trailer of Ahsoka was released.

Thanks to the teaser trailer that was released during the Star Wars Celebration event in London, we now know who will be playing Hera Syndulla in the Ahsoka series. And it is none other than Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who was confirmed to be working together with the cast of the Ahsoka series in a role that was yet to be officially announced.

However, the teaser trailer allowed us to see Winstead owning the role of the well-known green Twi’lek. She was placed in the position of one of the most important characters of Star Wars: Rebels. As such, she has big shoes to fill, especially because fans are excited about what the Ahsoka series could offer.

Hera’s Role in Ahsoka

At this point, we aren’t really sure how big of a role Winstead’s Hera Syndulla will play in the Ahsoka series. She was one of the main characters in the Rebels series because she was the de facto leader of the Spectre crew operating in the Ghost Ship. Of course, Hera was the pilot of the Ghost and was said to be one of the best pilots that the Rebels could offer at that time.

As such, Winstead is likely to portray a version of Hera that is now looking to work together with her former crewmates in an attempt to finish some unfinished business. That’s because Thrawn still lives and is still very much a threat to the New Republic and the peacefulness of the galaxy. Of course, Hera also knows that her late love interest (Kanan Jarrus), Padawan is also out there in the galaxy.

That is why Hera and Ahsoka will likely be in leadership roles in a series that is looking to conclude the events that started in Star Wars: Rebels. As such, they will work together with the other Rebels and the remaining members of the Spectres to defeat Thrawn and scour the galaxy for Ezra Bridger. And we know that Hera is still the same badass pilot that we know she is even though she is already a mother.
