‘Dragon Ball DAIMA’ Sets the Path for the Supreme Kai to Save the Demon Realm

The currently airing Dragon Ball DAIMA anime was supposed to be the next big thing for the Dragon Ball franchise when it was announced back in 2023. It was scheduled for a Fall 2024 release (and it, indeed, premiered on October 11, 2024), but the news of the series’ premiere was overshadowed by the death of its creator, Akira Toriyama.

And while the series and the franchise are continuing, everyone knows it is not the same without Toriyama’s creative genius to guide the series forward, although DAIMA is mostly based on his ideas, as he managed to do a lot of work on the series.

Having said all of this, fans will know that the protagonists are currently in the infamous Demon Realm of Toriyama’s world, and as they are traveling through the Third Demon World, it seems that the series has just found a way to provide the world with a much necessary savior!

The Demon Realm in Dragon Ball, as you probably know, consists of three worlds and several other regions, with the Third Demon World being the lowest one, as well as the most belittled one. Namely, the Third Demon World is a wretched place even in terms of the Demon Realm in general, which says a lot.

The air of the Third Demon World is polluted and corrupt, and all the other Demons from the higher worlds look down upon them, considering them to be the lowest of the low in their realm.

On top of that, the Third Demon World is generally a prime example of tyranny and oppression, as the wretched Gendarmerie that operates there is known for keeping law and order in a most brutal fashion. You can now understand why the Third Demon World is such a sad place and why no one really wants to be there.

The Gendarmerie uses special collars to oppress the inhabitants of the Third Demon World. These collars drain the life force of these inhabitants and make them very weak, which is why they are so dangerous and why they are a symbol of oppression. But, it seems that there is a way to stop all of this.

Namely, Shin, better known as Supreme Kai, actually has the magic that can break these collars, and he is, thus, able to free the inhabitants of the Demon Realm. This has been clearly shown in DAIMA, and we think that this could have a lot of implications going forward.

Okay, to be fair, at this point, we still don’t know the limits of Shin’s powers. He is able to destroy these collars and free those being held by them, but we don’t know if there is any limit to this and how much power he actually has.

The number of inhabitants of the Third Demon World is not small, so the Supreme Kai would need a lot of magic and a lot of power to free them all. But the potential is definitely there, as his magic is certainly very powerful.

This means that going forward, Shin could be the one to free the oppressed people of the Third Demon World, which would – in all honesty – be an epic moment in the series and something that would perfectly fit the general idea of Toriyama’s world, so here’s to hoping that it will happen like that!
