The series was renewed for a second season in June 2022, after the series had become one of Netflix’s biggest hits to date, earning praise from critics and fans. Season 2 will follow hero Gi-hun as he abandons his plans to go to the United States. Instead, he begins a chase with an important motive.“

Since Squid Game has a standalone plot for each season, returns from Season 1 are not really expected, but there will be some familiar faces.
