There’s a lot of talk about the new Fable game possibly taking combat cues from The Witcher 3. A rumor going around suggests that Fable might bring in a more grounded and dynamic combat system, which feels similar to Geralt’s adventures. If true, this would mean a shift from the playful, exaggerated style we’re used to in older Fable games.

This rumor comes from insider sources, though nothing is confirmed. The idea is that the new Fable could feature combat that’s more fluid and strategy-focused, leaning into realism.

The Witcher 3 is known for making battles intense yet skill-driven, so borrowing this approach might make Fable more modern. However, we’d still expect Fable to keep its humor and charm—two things that make it stand out.

What’s exciting is how this could mix things up. Imagine the quirky Fable world, full of oddball characters and cheeky humor, paired with a combat system that makes fights more immersive. It could be a great way to attract players who love both storytelling and gameplay depth.

At the same time, some worry it might take away what makes Fable feel like Fable. The series has always leaned into its lighthearted and over-the-top approach. Adding heavy, Witcher-style combat might feel out of place to some of us. Still, this change could give it fresh life if done right.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see if this rumor holds up. If it’s true, it could mean a very different Fable than what we remember—but maybe that’s not such a bad thing.
