FIFA has unveiled its first game since parting ways with EA: ‘FIFA Rivals’, a mobile soccer experience developed by Mythical Games. Set to launch in the summer of 2025 for iOS and Android, this arcade-style game lets us create and manage our own clubs, enhancing lineups and engaging in matches with others.
It’s free-to-play but includes in-game purchases supported by Mythical’s Mythos blockchain.
This announcement follows FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s earlier mention of a new ‘e-game’ in development. While it’s unclear if ‘FIFA Rivals’ is the game he referred to, FIFA has been active in the gaming scene.
They’ve partnered with Konami to make eFootball the official game for the FIFA World Cup. Additionally, discussions with Take-Two Interactive and 2K about potential licensing agreements have been ongoing as of summer 2024.
Rumors suggest FIFA aims to release a new console title around the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, no official updates have been provided on this front.
The introduction of ‘FIFA Rivals’ marks FIFA’s re-entry into gaming post-EA, offering a fresh mobile experience for soccer enthusiasts.
