First Teaser for the ‘Chad Powers’ Series, Starring Glen Powell as a Failed College Quarterback, Has Been Released
Hulu is gearing up for the premiere of its new half-hour comedy series, Chad Powers, starring Glen Powell, who also co-created the show with Michael Waldron. The series, set to debut in Fall 2025, offers a quirky and humorous dive into the world of college football.
The story centers on Russ Holliday, a once-promising college quarterback whose NFL dreams are derailed by bad behavior. Desperate for redemption, Holliday adopts the persona of Chad Powers, a good-natured, talented player, and sneaks onto a struggling Southern football team.
The transformation, achieved with the help of wigs and prosthetics, gives him a second chance to chase his dreams.
In the teaser, Powell appears both as Holliday and his alter ego, showcasing the comedic and physical contrast between the two characters. “I got something coming up,” Holliday says in the clip. “Something kinda big.”
The show draws inspiration from a 2022 ESPN+ sketch, where former NFL quarterback Eli Manning disguised himself as a walk-on recruit at Penn State. Powell, along with Waldron, wanted to expand on this idea to create a fun and relatable sports story.
In a statement, the duo explained, “We’re huge college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew there was a big, fun story waiting to be told. We can’t wait to get Chad in the game.”
The series also boasts an impressive lineup of producers, including Eli and Peyton Manning under Omaha Productions, with Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown from ESPN contributing as well.
Tony Yacenda directs and serves as an executive producer, while Luvh Rakhe and Adam Fasullo also join the production team. Powell doubles as an executive producer through Barnstorm Productions.
Joining Powell in the cast are Perry Mattfeld, Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Steve Zahn, rounding out a team ready to deliver both laughs and heartfelt moments. With its mix of sports, humor, and redemption, Chad Powers promises to be a fresh addition to Hulu’s lineup.
