Fruits Basket – prelude- Compilation Film Sells 20,000 Tickets in Two Days
The Fruits Basket -prelude- takes place after the three-season TV anime Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. The film includes heroine Honda Tohru’s parents’ backstory as well as an inside look into the life of Honda and Kyo after the anime ended. Prepare some tissues; the film will pull heartstrings.
Fruits Basket is a heartwarming story about a young girl, Honda Tohru, and her life living with individuals possessed by the spirits of the Chinese Zodiac. Throughout the series, Tohru breaks curses, finds love, and makes unforgettable memories.
On January 18, 2022, Avex pictures uploaded a two-minute movie preview for Fruits Basket on their YouTube Channel. The film premiered in Japan on February 18, 2022.

According to Mantan Website, the Mainichi Shimbun’s dedicated website, the Fruits Basket -prelude- earned around US$287,000 (33 million yen) during its first two days in theaters. Fans who watch the film from February 18 until March 4 are said to receive a 20-page booklet featuring 16 pages of newly created manga content by Takaya. What lucky fans!
