'Game Of Thrones' Lyanna Stark, Aisling Franciosi, Discusses Potential Spin-Off and Return Chances

Aisling Franciosi, who played Lyanna Stark in Game of Thrones, recently spoke about the idea of reprising her role in a possible spinoff series centered on Robert’s Rebellion. Franciosi, best known as the mother of Jon Snow, revealed during an interview at the Sundance Film Festival that she’d love to be part of the franchise again.

She said, ‘Absolutely. Yeah, I would if it came up. It was fun to be a part of something [so big], even if I was a tiny part. It was fun to be a part of something so massive; really good fun.’ Franciosi also expressed her willingness to return even if her role remained small, much like her brief appearances in the original series.

Lyanna Stark played a pivotal part in Westeros’ history, as her relationship with Rhaegar Targaryen sparked Robert’s Rebellion. Many in Westeros believed she was taken by Rhaegar against her will, but Bran Stark later uncovered the truth: Lyanna and Rhaegar were secretly married, and Jon Snow was their son.

This twist became a major focus in Game of Thrones‘ later seasons, adding complexity to her role in the larger story.

Though no spinoff has officially been announced about Robert’s Rebellion, it seems like a natural fit for future Game of Thrones projects. With several spinoffs in development, including House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and an untitled series about Aegon’s Conquest, it’s surprising that no show about the Starks has been confirmed yet.

A series covering the rebellion would put Lyanna in a more prominent position, giving her character room to grow beyond the limited moments we saw in the original show.
