Genesis Rodriguez is in talks to join The Night Agent for its third season. Netflix has already approved a third season of the hit show, starring Gabriel Basso as a junior FBI agent caught in a massive conspiracy.
The American actress is best known for her roles in Entourage, Man on a Ledge, Casa de Mi Padre, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, The Last Stand, Tusk, Run All Night, and Lioness. She also provided the voice of Honey Lemon in Big Hero 6.
Rodriguez is expected to be a regular cast member in The Night Agent season three, with filming starting soon in Istanbul and moving to New York early next year. Details about her character are being kept under wraps.
Season two of The Night Agent is set to premiere on Jan. 23. In the new season, Peter Sutherland (Basso) finally gets the chance to work as a Night Agent after what happened in season one. But being part of the secret Night Action organization throws him into a dangerous world where he can’t trust anyone.
According to Netflix, the first season of The Night Agent was a huge hit. It had 168.71 million hours of worldwide views over its first four days, the third-highest for a new series. In its second week, it amassed 216.4 million hours of views. In its third week, it gained 130.48 million hours of views and became the streamer’s ninth-most-viewed series, with a total of 515.57 million hours viewed.
By 25 days, it accrued 605.62 million total hours, emerging as the streamer’s sixth-most viewed series. Between its release and June 2023, the series totaled 812.1 million hours watched, which is the most of any Netflix original in that time span.
Rotten Tomatoes reported a 74% approval rating based on 31 critic reviews for the first season. The website’s critics consensus reads, “Bingeable as a beach read and just as forgettable, The Night Agent is a routine spy thriller told with commendable bravado.“
Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 68 out of 100 based on 13 critics, indicating generally favorable reviews.
As for Rodriguez, she is currently starring in season two of another spy thriller, Lioness, at Paramount+.
