Steven Knight’s hit series Peaky Blinders has reached the end of its televised run, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be more of the series in the future. Namely, as we already know, the Peaky Blinders series will end with a proper movie, instead of a seventh season. Although Knight initially said that the movie would come out in 2024, this has not been confirmed, but he has confirmed two other important things.

The first, but somewhat less important one, is that filming should start in September 2024 in Digbeth: We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.” Knight has been running the series from the start and while he has other upcoming projects as well, Peaky Blinders is still a priority for him and we’re happy to confirm that the film will indeed be shot this year. Whether this means that the movie won’t meet its initial 2024 release date is unknown at this moment, but it is possible that the movie comes out in 2025 rather than 2024.

The second scoop we got from Knight is that recent Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy will, indeed, be returning to reprise his critically acclaimed role of Thomas Shelby, the main character of the Peaky Blinders series. Murphy is, of course, the heart and soul of the series, and while fans were hoping that he would return, there have been rumors that Murphy might not reappear as Tom Shelby in the movie. These have now been debunked by Knight himself, who said the following: “He definitely is returning for it.”

There you have it – what more could a fan ask for? The Peaky Blinders movie doesn’t have an official title or release date as of the time of writing, but filming starts this year and we have confirmation that Cillian Murphy will be reprising his role. This has us very excited for the upcoming movie and we on Fiction Horizon will be bringing you all the updates as soon as they appear, so be sure to keep following us for more.
