‘Gladiator II’ Releases First Official Trailer Ahead of November Premiere

If we wanted to be frank, Gladiator II, when originally confirmed, was among the more unexpected sequels we got. It’s not that we did not want it… but there was a feeling that we did not want it 20+ years later and in a phase when Hollywood was scraping off the success of previous movies and franchises.

But, here we are… we’re back in Ancient Rome, and the movie is, if everything goes according to plan, going to come out on November 22, 2024, and will star Oscar-nominee Paul Mescal as Lucius Verus, a character from the first movie. He is joined by Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington, who form a stellar main cast of Scott’s movie.

Now, roughly half a year before the film’s official release, and after a series of leaked set photos, the first official trailer for Gladiator II is out and we are happy to bring it to you in this report!

As is always the case, we are first going to bring you the trailer, which is – of course – the main reason why you’re here, so here you go:

As you can see, the movie is going to be a visual marvel, and we dare say it is even better than the first film. The possibilities of modern cinema are much bigger than they were almost 30 years ago, and we think that Scott’s sequel will definitely benefit from that fact in the technical sense. The plot is still a mystery, and we just hope that the story will end up being compelling, as we’re sure that the cast will deliver a brilliant product.

Based on everything we’ve seen, the sequel definitely seems interesting and sounds very promising. Scott is a director who has the experience and skill to make a proper historical epic, which is why we’re looking forward to seeing it. Now, let us summarize what we know about the movie as of the time of writing this report.

As we’ve said, the movie is coming out later this year with Ridley Scott directing. The script was written by David Scarpa. The film will feature a star-filled ensemble cast consisting of Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Connie Nielsen, and Derek Jacobi; Barry Keoghan was also initially attached to star but left the project due to scheduling conflicts. Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, May Calamawy, and Tim McInnerny have also been cast in undisclosed roles as of the time of writing.

The story will focus on Lucius Verus, a character introduced in the original film, where he was a supporting character portrayed by Spencer Treat Clark. We don’t know any details, but the story will be a continuation of the story started in the first movie. This is all we have at this point, but be sure to keep following us for more updates!
