Goblin Slayer dark fantasy anime series debuted back in February 15, 2016, as a light novel series that is still ongoing, with 15 volumes published as of April 2022. Over the years, Goblin Slayer has proven itself to be quite controversial but also very popular. The anime series was adapted from a light novel Written by Kumo Kagyu into an anime in 2018, followed by an anime movie in 2020, and here is everything you need to know about Goblin Slayer season 2.
Goblin Slayer season 2 has been officially confirmed on January 31, 2021. This was the first piece of information about the show since its debut back in 2018. At this moment, nothing is known about the upcoming second season; we have received a visual confirming its release and it is speculated that the season might air in 2023. Goblin Slayer season 2 release date is currently unknown.
The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to the upcoming Goblin Slayer season 2. You’re going to find out about the potential goblin slayer season 2 release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this very popular anime series.
Goblin Slayer Season 2 release date
At this moment, the Goblin Slayer anime series consists of one anime season, which ran from October 7, 2018, to December 30, 2018, consisting of a total of 12 episodes, and an anime movie was released on February 1, 2020.
Light Novel has 15 volumes in general. These episodes have adapted the complete Volume 1 of the light novel, a portion of Volume 2, and a short episode from Volume 4, while the movie was based on the light novels Volume 5; Volume 3 has not been adapted in any form.
We don’t know so far whether new characters will be introduced in the anime.
What was adapted so far in Goblin Slayer?
Knowing that the series has, so far, adapted only two and a half light novel volumes, we cannot deny that there is a lot of new material adapted, although we do not know whether the producers are going to go back, or simply continue from light novels Volume 6 onwards.
The release date is at this point only speculation.
Be that as it may, the continuance wasn’t really confirmed at the time and we had to wait for some information to hit us for a year. To sum up everything we have learned so far, the release date is currently unknown.
Is Goblin Slayer a hit Series?
Well, Goblin Slayer was never such a massive hit as Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, which aired around the same time. The series fandom was small, but the fans are pretty devoted and that is why the producers were so slow to announce any plans for future seasons of the show.
What do we know about Goblin Slayer Season 2 so far?
On January 31, 2021, during the GA Fes 2021, it was confirmed that Goblin Slayer season 2 will be aired after all, but aside from a visual teaser (below, left image), no additional information has been released.
This hasn’t, unfortunately, changed since that moment as even today, we don’t have any information about the upcoming season. Much less a release date.
The announcement has definitely made a lot of fans happy, but unfortunately, it was just a mere announcement that has us waiting for more.
Taking all of this into account, the second season of Goblin Slayer is probably very close and will quite probably premiere in 2023; seems a bit too early, while 2024 doesn’t seem likely in any aspect. We Can’t Wait for Goblin Slayer Season 2.
Goblin Slayer Season 2 trailer
Now that we have presented you with all the information about Goblin Slayer season 2 you’ve probably concluded by yourselves that it is still too early for a proper Goblin Slayer Season 2 trailer for the upcoming season, meaning that there is none at this moment. (We don’t even have a release date so far)
And while the season has been announced over a year ago, we still have no information about its current production status nor a potential release date, so we’ll just have to wait for a release window for the second season to have a more precise window for the trailer’s release.
As we have said, Goblin Slayer will definitely come back very soon, but it seems that it is still too early in the production for a trailer and even for a goblin slayer season 2 release date.
The whole series has been extremely popular and it did not surprise us that it had been renewed for a new season.
What is the release date of Goblin Slayer season 2?
Still, as of this moment, we still don’t have any official information on the goblin slayer season 2 release date, so we’ll have to wait a bit for the trailer to appear.
The only things we have are an announcement trailer, and two teaser visuals, an older one released a year ago, and a recently released one. It’s not as good as the release date for next season of Goblin Slayer but it’s something. Here is the announcement video:
And as for the teaser visuals for Goblin Slayer season 2, you can also check them out here:
Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Goblin Slayer season 2 will probably appear sometime during this year. With a 2023 premiere looking likely, the trailer is bound to appear in the following months.
Goblin Slayer Season 2 plot
At this moment, we do not know which parts of the source material light novel series are going to be adapted in Goblin Slayer Season 2.
Namely, the adaptation schedule for Goblin Slayer source material was quite hectic, with the first anime season combining elements from Volume 1, part of Volume 2, and a short segment of Volume 4; the movie has adapted Volume 5 of the light novel series.
Luckily it should be ready for season 2 release.
Now, whether Season 2 is going to come back to the unadapted parts of Volumes 2-4 or continue with Volume 6 remains a mystery at this time. In this section, we are going to recap the first season of the anime.
Goblin Slayer Season 1 Plot – The Priestess teams up with Goblin Slayer
The Priestess, old enough to leave the Temple where she grew up, goes to the Adventurers’ Guild to accomplish her first quest, she is recruited by a team of novices like her to exterminate a cavernous lair of goblins who are said to have attacked humans and abducted young girls.
The Goblin Slayer is a high-ranking (silver) solitary adventurer living on a farm in a small remote village with Cow Girl Sword maiden, his childhood friend.
The Priestess, who was saved by him during his first quest and chose to team up with the Goblin Slayer on his missions.
First Season Recap – The Priestess, The Goblin Slayer & Adventurers
A team of adventurers (a High Elf, a Dwarf, and a Lizard priest) of the same rank as him, having heard his exploits sung by a bard, go to the Adventurers’ Guild to meet the Goblin Slayer, and recruit him for a quest.
Arriving in the ruins abandoned by Humans, the team led by the Goblin Slayer and relying on his wise expertise, storms the particularly developed lair of Goblins that they are supposed to exterminate.
The High Elf Archer, dreaming of adventures and too presumptuous, learns by his side to really know the “Orcbolg”, but also his sworn enemies and what they are capable of.
The Goblin Slayer is sponsored in person by the Archbishop, a former heroine of gold rank also known by the nickname of “Virgin of the Sword” and revered by the Priestess, for a mission to the City of Waters; the Archer Elf, the Dwarf Shaman, and the Lizard Priest, who are also offered the quest.
First Season recap – Exterminating the Goblins
After a successful first assault, however, the Goblin Slayer came to the conclusion that the Goblins they had encountered were not ordinary and therefore made arrangements for their next descent into the underground.
Just saved by the magic of the Priestess and the Virgin with the Sword, who in turn gets closer to him, the Goblin Slayer is joined by his companions for their second assault, which had little success and nearly cost him his life.
A strange mirror kept in a dead-end room by the “Giant Eye” is actually Magic Portal overlooking another world inhabited by Goblins with more advanced civilization than those they usually encounter in theirs, confirming the suspicions of the Goblin Slayer.
Season 1 – Life in the guild
After completing the quest for the Virgin with the Sword and getting rid of the Portal, the Goblin Slayer returned to recover in his village as well as in his daily life.
The many Goblin footsteps he found around the farm during his usual round meant only one thing to the Goblin Slayer: a large horde of Goblins was nearby. The Goblin will attack and it’s Goblin Slayer’s job to stop them.
These will again storm his village and massacre its inhabitants, as on that one fated night when he was a child. With Cow Girl refusing to leave their home and having no other choice at hand to prevent what will inevitably happen.
The Goblin Slayer manages to recruit enough adventurers to design a viable plan and to stand firm to receive the important organized horde of Goblins, who are led by a Baron and according to his predictions attacked his village the following night.
Season 1 – The Final Battle
The battle between the adventurers of the Guild and the Goblins continues on the plains separating the village from the forest: while his colleagues anticipate – thanks to his expertise as well as his planning.
The various waves of assault and exterminate them, the Goblin Slayer, who had planned everything, took care of their lair and barred the road of their Baron, whom he faced in person.
GOBLIN SLAYER! Season 2 cast
The main cast of the second season of Goblin Slayer won’t be going through many important changes compared to season 1, at least not as far as we know. The main cast will remain in the new season – for the most part – unchanged until the very end (of the first series, at least).
This is why we think that the main voice cast since that is an unwritten rule in modern-day anime adaptations, will return for the goblin slayer season 2 release, but also for all potential future seasons.
Expected Cast of Second Season of Goblin Slayer
We don’t have confirmation of that so we’ll have to wait a bit for it to be official, but we assume that most of the names on the list below like Yui Ogura, and Tomokazu Sugita, Noboru Kannatsuki will return in Goblin Slayer season 2.
- Maaya Uchida as Guild Girl
- Aya Endo as Sword Maiden
- Yukiyo Fujii as Female Knight
- Natsumi Hioka as Inspector
- Haruka Tomatsu as Sword Master
- Yuichiro Umehara as Goblin Slayer
- Yui Ogura as Priestess
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Spearman
- Yuka Iguchi as CowGirl
- Seiji Maeda as Rookie Warrior
- Ayasa Ito as Apprentice Cleric
- Yuichi Nakamura as Dwarf Shaman

The English Cast
The English Cast for the Anime English dub of Goblin Slayer’s first season will possibly also return Mallorie Rodak, Hayden Daviau, Brad Hawkins, Joshua Bangle, and Barry Yandell.
Where to watch Goblin Slayer Season 2?
The first season of the Goblin Slayer tv series was available on Crunchyroll (in subbed format) and Funimation (in dubbed format).
Since these two services usually stream anime, there is no doubt that they will offer the second season for their viewers as well. We just don’t know whether the English dub will be released simultaneously or not, but we think that it will.
Will there be a Goblin Slayer Season 3?
And while it certainly might be too early to discuss a potential Goblin Slayer season 3, since we don’t even know officially when the second season is going to air (we know that it’s in the works but we don’t know the exact release date).
There are some great indicators that Goblin Slayer will, indeed, return even after the upcoming second season.
Is Goblin Slayer over?
Namely, Goblin Slayer is still nowhere near its completion (neither the light novels, nor the manga), and the upcoming season 2 probably won’t have a large number of episodes, like the first one.
This means that the producers have more space for new seasons, as you don’t really want to rush such shows.
We can only speculate about the third season.
Seeing how Goblin Slayer maintains a consistent level of popularity in Japan and how good it is doing, as well as taking into consideration the fact that the anime hasn’t adapted the whole light novel (the series is still ongoing, so there’ll be a lot of new material to adapt, alongside the already-existing one that has not been adapted yet), we know that the upcoming second season won’t wrap things up, meaning that a third season is looking very good.
Still, we’ll have to wait for some official news to be sure.
