God of War is one of the best and most popular video game franchises. Whoever played even one game from the series will say the same – it is absolutely spectacular. After going through the depths of Greek mythology, the authors sent Kratos to Scandinavia, where he had to face the horrors of the Norse pantheon.

A sequel is expected to be announced since both Nordic games performed exceptionally well. It may be set in Egypt. Additionally, fans of the franchise will likely enjoy a streaming series adaptation of the popular games. Amazon and Sony are collaborating on the series.

This was confirmed some time ago, and while we had some initial updates, it’s been a while since anyone commented on the series.

Now, we have a brand new and interesting update that is both good and bad, depending on how you approach the information we are going to provide you with.

The series was originally announced in December 2022. Reports indicated it would be set in the Norse realms. Kratos’ bloody history in Greece might be mentioned but not explored in depth in the main series. A prequel was always a possibility and still is.

However, we know that adapting games into films or television series is a complex thing, and in general, fans are not satisfied with such adaptations.

You could cite The Witcher, but let us not forget that The Witcher is actually a series of books rather than a video game series. On the other hand, we know what happened to Borderlands. Fallout is a solid example, to be honest, but the worlds of Fallout and God of War are so different that it is impossible to compare them.

If you’ve followed the show’s development, you may remember that Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, creators of The Expanse, were hired as EPs. Rafe Judkins, the showrunner for The Wheel of Time, was also brought on. They were tasked with writing the scripts for the first season.

Now, as Deadline reports exclusively, all three of them have left the project and won’t be participating in it anymore. The source reveals that Sony and Amazon praised their screenplays for the planned first season, but they simply wanted to move in a different direction with the show.

This doesn’t sound good, as the three main people behind the project leaving that same project is never good, but we at least found out that both Sony and Amazon are committed to the series and that a new writer’s room will be organized soon.

This is all we have at the moment and we just hope that they can deliver a product worthy of the games.
