Legendary Entertainment’s MonsterVerse has brought us epic battles featuring Godzilla, and now, IDW Publishing is gearing up to release ‘Godzilla Vs. America’.

This fresh anthology has Godzilla setting his sights on the United States, starting with Chicago. The series promises a thrilling adventure as America’s iconic cities face the wrath of the king of the monsters.

The mini-series ‘Godzilla Vs. America’ is penned by Mike Costa and Tim Seeley, who both share a deep-rooted passion for the kaiju genre. Mike Costa reminisced about his childhood days watching monster movies and expressed his excitement about collaborating with Ryan on this project.

‘It’s an incredible honor to work on a story about the world’s most famous and terrifying ‘not-a-dinosaur’ but an irradiated sea monster,’ Costa revealed. This monster symbolizes our fears of unchecked technology and its often disastrous consequences.

Tim Seeley, another seasoned comic writer, expressed his enthusiasm about the series starting in Chicago, his hometown. ‘I love comics, but I love Chicago more. Well, maybe Godzilla tops them all.

Merging all these elements in ‘Godzilla Vs. America’ is both a pleasure and an honor,’ Seeley said. He joked about wreaking havoc in his favorite city with Godzilla, suggesting everyone might need an ‘oxygen destroyer’.

IDW editor Jake Williams also spoke about the excitement surrounding the series. According to Williams, ‘Godzilla Vs. America’ is set to highlight various American cities and showcase local creative talents.

‘For residents of these cities, these comics will feel like coming home. For others, it will be a high-octane American tour on the back of Godzilla,’ Williams explained.

‘Godzilla Vs. America – Chicago’ marks the beginning of this four-issue saga where Godzilla will be venturing beyond the West. The first issue is set to hit comic shops on February 26th next year.

While Chicago is the only confirmed city so far, fans speculate that New York City, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles could be next on Godzilla’s list. With such a dramatic setting, the series promises to blend iconic American backdrops with the thrill and excitement of monster cinema.

Stay tuned for more updates as Godzilla prepares to stomp across America’s greatest cities, bringing classic kaiju chaos in a whole new environment.
