In February 2022, the Duffer Brothers renewed the Netflix megahit series Stranger Things for the fifth and final season. Since Season 4 ended with a huge cliffhanger, the fans have been going crazy with various theories – not just of the plot itself, but of the possible new characters, too. It has been confirmed that Season 5 will be a continuation of Season 4, but, this hasn’t stopped the fans from being sent into a frenzy by a rumor about a TikTok star, Addison Rae, starring in the next season. Having over 88 million TikTok followers, Addison has already scored a multi-movie deal with Netflix. So far, she has starred in the feature film “He’s All That“. You can’t help but ask; is it true though? Will Addison Rae really star in Stranger Things? Who would she even be playing if she was hired?

Even though there are rumors that a TikTok star, Addison Rae will star in the final season of Stranger Things, this has never been confirmed by the creators of the show. There is no actual proof she has even auditioned. What the Duffer Brothers did, in fact, confirm is that the final season will begin with no reset; it will be an immediate continuation of season 4 (which we all know ended with a cliffhanger!). Even though a lot of things may change in season 5, the fans shouldn’t be fearing Addison Rae’s appearance – the series’ main focus will be on the original cast and the main characters. There is little to no possibility of introducing new characters.

In this article, we will debunk the origin of the rumors, shine a light on fans’ thoughts about the whole situation, and speculate about who she would even be playing if the Duffer Brothers decided to hire her. For starters, who is even Addison Rae?

Who the hell is this person everyone’s so mad about?!“, you might ask. If you’re not familiar with social media personalities, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered.

Addison Rae Easterling is an American social media personality. She’s also a dancer, actress, and singer. In 2021, Addison has made the Forbes “30 Under 30” list for social media influencers. No wonder; after all, she does have over 88 million followers on TikTok, making her the fourth most-followed individual on the whole platform. Even though she is only 21 years old, she already has four Streamy Award nominations, along with additional nominations for two People’s Choice Awards, and three Kid’s Choice Awards. As it happens, she has also landed a deal with Netflix, after starring in He’s All That. The fact that she already starred in a Netflix movie, makes the possibility of her auditioning for Stranger Things even greater.

Unsurprisingly, the fans don’t seem to think she is fit for starring in Stranger Things, though. The show’s set in the ’80s, referencing pop culture of that decade. It was inspired by the great works of John Carpenter, David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, Wes Craven, and H.P Lovecraft. The Duffer Brothers also took inspiration from various conspiracy theories involving secret government experiments and the experiments conducted during the Cold War. It’s no wonder that the fans have become protective over their beloved nostalgia-driven series. Keeping in mind all of which we’ve just stated, it just doesn’t seem right for a TikTok star to be featured.

It’s plain to see that most of the fans’ reactions were extremely negative. Some of them even messaged the writers of Stranger Things, begging them to say ‘no’ if Addison ever auditions. Harsh!

So, why would the fans even think Addison Rae is in Stranger Things?

As most rumors do, the rumor about Addison’s possible new role has started on Twitter. It’s unclear who exactly came up with it, but multiple tweets suggested she may audition for the final season. Some even said she already did – but ended up being rejected by the Duffer Brothers. Keeping in mind that the TikTok star is also a singer, and an actress, who landed a multi-movie deal with Netflix, all of these rumors don’t seem to be too far from the truth – which enraged the Stranger Things community.

The fears of her auditioning have become even more real when Joseph Quinn commented on one of her TikTok videos. Even though the comment itself isn’t more than a joke, the possibility of her being tied to the show has struck a nerve for most fans. The unexpected interaction had everyone convinced that Addison Rae will really star in the final season.

Besides responding to a fan comment, saying “Babe, relax“, Addison hasn’t spoken about her auditioning. The fans don’t need to fear Addison starring in their favorite show, though. The Duffer Brothers have confirmed no new characters will be introduced for Season 5.

Who could she even be playing in Stranger Things?

For many, it’s hard to imagine where exactly would a TikTok star fit in a nostalgia-driven supernatural drama. The cast of Stranger Things features many established actors, such as Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Brett Gelman. If the Duffer Brothers ever decided to hire Addison Rae, she would be the first influencer to star in the series.

After all, we can only speculate about her possible roles. Since the original cast consists of closely-tied childhood friends and their families, it’s obvious she would play a side character. As we’ve already said, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that the plot of the Season 5 will be a continuation of Season 4, so the final season will most definitely be focused on its main characters.

If Addison ever auditioned and got the role, she would most likely play a side character. Possibly a character similar to Angela. It wouldn’t be surprising if she starred as another classmate of the main characters, though. Or, maybe she would be hired to play a part of the extended family. It’s impossible to truly guess, as the possibilities are endless.
