Marvel Might Be Preparing New Avengers vs. X-Men Clash with the Upcoming Cyclops vs. Captain Marvel Fight
The MCU is preparing for the grand finale of the Multiverse Saga, with Doomsday and Secret Wars preparing for production. These two movies should, according to the limited data we have, unite all of Marvel’s projects into one major multiversal storyline that the fans will absolutely adore if everything turns out as promised.
On the other hand, Marvel’s comics are continuing their own path, and it seems that two upcoming titles are setting up a similar crossover between the publishing house’s two large groups. One of them is the Avengers, while the other is the X-Men. Is Marvel setting up another epic clash between them?
At this moment, we still don’t know, but the previews for the upcoming The Avengers #21 and X-Men #8 certainly imply that the two groups will clash, if only partially at this point. What is going to happen? Well, keep reading this report to find out!
And while these two groups are generally both on the side of good, they sometimes have conflicting interests.
There is no doubt that both the Avengers and the X-Men are heroes, that much is clear, but the two groups have clashed before and that is mainly because of some internal conflicts.
Now, at this point, we don’t know whether a new major clash between the two groups is on the way, but the previews of two upcoming issues – The Avengers #21 and X-Men #8 – are both set for a February 2025 release, tease at least one major clash – the one between Cyclops and Captain Marvel. Here are the synopses:
AVENGERS VS. X-MEN! Jed MacKay pits his Avengers against his X-Men in a story that sows the seeds for some major future developments! Captain Marvel and Cyclops square off! Scarlet Witch and Magneto finally confront their history! And Storm’s loyalties are put to the test…
(The Avengers #21)
“RAID ON GRAYMALKIN” PART ONE! With one of their own incarcerated, the X-Men move on Graymalkin Prison in order to free their teammate. But it’s not just one team – in Alaska, Cyclops’ X-Men scramble a rescue mission, while in Louisiana, Rogue’s X-Men move to strike out on their own sortie. Doctrinal rivals each with their own objective, will these two fractious teams find themselves at cross-purposes? After all…an “X” is made by two lines crossing.
(X-Men #8)
While the synopses don’t reveal a direct connection, the two stories will intersect at one point, and it is painfully obvious that the Avengers will have to clash with the X-Men if they do attack Graymalkin Prison.
As for Captain Marvel and Cyclops, the two of them have clashed before, and Cyclops won thanks to his tactical approach, although it was acknowledged that Captain Marvel is physically superior to the two. What does the future bring? We can only wait…
