As you are well aware, Henry Cavill is currently struggling to get back on track with his career, even though he has a large following and is incredibly well-liked. His tenure as Superman has ended as Gunn chose to replace him with David Corenswet.

Liam Hemsworth also succeeded him in the Witcher franchise. Although he is still finding work, his career is not progressing as one would expect.

And while The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare did fairly well, it was mostly thanks to Guy Ritchie’s vision than Cavill himself; at the same time, Argylle failed miserably and Cavill seemingly lost out on the role of James Bond, which he was a hot contender for.

While people are trying to find a reason for this, with many fans blaming other people – those around Cavill – after all these failures, we can now state what has become painfully obvious, and that is that the only person to blame for Cavill’s career fails is Cavill himself!

The issues with Cavill began a long time ago. It all started with The Witcher. Although the series was doing well and Cavill was popular as Geralt, he abandoned the project, supposedly because he wanted to take control of the series and was inappropriate in his behavior toward his colleagues.

This was a shocker that ultimately led to the cancelation of The Witcher, but it was also the first sign that Cavill was not doing something right.

After that, Superman came. Despite all the issues the DCEU had, Cavill’s Superman was loved by the fans, and he was a brand name for the whole franchise, so when it was announced that he would not be returning as the Man of Steel in the DCU, it was another shock.

And while we can understand that James Gunn wanted something new in his rendering of DC’s stories, take a look at this interesting tweet:

While the tweet is old, it does pinpoint the issue with Cavill and his career choices. Not supporting the Snyder Cut was a problem and the fact that he refused to appear in Shazam! while, at the same time, later appearing in The Rock’s failed Black Adam project caused problems for the actor and his credibility.

He ultimately lost out on the James Bond role, as it seems, and his projects failed one after another. In that aspect, it is quite apparent that no one is to blame aside from Cavill himself. It was his behavior and his decisions that led to this, and there is really not much that we can add to this story.

The future of the Warhammer franchise is in jeopardy as of the time of writing, so it remains to be seen how well his planned Highlander reboot is going to do.
