J.K. Simmons-Led Thriller ‘You Can’t Run Forever’ Releases First Official Trailer Ahead of May Premiere
Oscar winner J.K. Simmons made his career on television, appearing in Law & Order and Oz, and while he did play J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007), it wasn’t until Juno (2007) that he became a brand name, later appearing in Burn After Reading (2008), La La Land (2016), Justice League (2017), Being the Ricardos (2021), and other films. But, it was 2014’s Whiplash that earned him his first Oscar and earned him unanimous praise for his portrayal of the sadistic music instructor Terence Fletcher.
But, having said all of this, J.K. Simmons has a new movie coming out on May 17, 2024, an action thriller in which he will play the main role, but which is personal for him on more than one level, but more on that below.
The movie in question is You Can’t Run Forever, and it is an action thriller distributed by Lionsgate that will hit movie theaters in less than a month. The movie will be directed by Michelle Schumacher, Simmons’ wife since 1996, who also co-wrote the film with Carolyn Carpenter. The movie has finally released its first trailer ahead of the May premiere, and you can check it out here:
Alongside Simmons, who will play the main character Wade, Allen Leech will appear in the movie as Eddie, Fernanda Urrejola as Jenny, Isabelle Anaya as Miranda, and Nathan Vincenti as Davis. These are the names we have confirmed as of the time of writing. The film was shot in Montana.
The official synopsis of the thriller You Can’t Run Forever reveals the following details about the plot of the movie:
Miranda, a young woman already suffering from acute anxiety due to a past tragedy, faces a new terror when a serial killer chooses her as his new target. In a harrowing hunt through the woods, Miranda finds strength she never knew she had as she tries to elude her murderous tracker. Academy Award® winner J.K. Simmons stars in a spine-chilling thriller about the strength of family and the astonishing power of the human spirit.
The plot seems intriguing enough, and Simmons will surely elevate the movie with another great performance. We have yet to see how the movie will be received, but be sure to keep following us for all the updates.
