Jeffrey Wright to Reprise His Role as Isaac in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2

Most critics and fans will agree that The Last of Us video game series is one of the best ever. A survival horror on the surface, the game is actually an exceptionally complex post-apocalyptic tale that sends a significant warning, as well as shows some great character development. The game has been adapted into a live-action series by HBO, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. The series was a major hit, winning numerous awards and earning praise from fans and critics alike, which, of course, led to a second season, which is being produced as of the time of writing, and we have a very exciting casting update that we want to report about!

As you know, The Last of Us is based on video games, and the series contains numerous characters who originally appeared in the games. Since Season 2 is going to focus on the sequel game, one of the characters set to make an appearance in it is Isaac, a popular character from the game, where he was portrayed by Oscar-nominee Jeffrey Wright. We now know who is going to play Isaac in the series as well.

Well… believe it or not, Isaac is going to be portrayed by – Jeffrey Wright in the series as well! The popular actor is returning to the role, this time in live-action format, after having provided the voice and motion capture basis for Isaac in the video game. This is certainly going to make a lot of us happy, and we can confirm that we’re very excited to see Wright, who made a name for himself in Westworld and has recently appeared in The Batman and American Fiction, in the series, and in his own role.

Isaac has been officially described as “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.” In the game, he was a secondary antagonist in Abby’s side of the story, and since we already know that Season 2 is going to include and focus on Abby’s story as well, we now know that Isaac’s story will also be explored.

We have yet to see whether the series will make some changes to Isaac’s story, but it is possible that it will add more layers to Isaac’s biography, which will certainly make his appearance even more memorable.
