John Boyega Expresses Support for Fellow ‘Star Wars’ Actress Amandla Stenberg After Toxic Fans Bully ‘The Acolyte’ Star
The Acolyte, Disney’s most recent Star Wars project, has generated a lot of controversy since its debut due to a number of incidents and major review-bombing moments. This surpassed all the previous controversies related to any Star Wars project but hopes for a second season did exist until recently when it was confirmed that The Acolyte had been canceled by Disney and that the series would not be getting a second season.
This caused polarized reactions online, as the final episodes managed to redeem the show in a certain way, but it is a fact that has to be accepted as such, regardless of whether you were a fan or not. At the same, the series’ star, Amandla Stenberg, as we have reported, was being harassed and bullied online by toxic fans, which we condemned as unacceptable.
Recently, though, the young actress received some support from another Star Wars alum and someone who ended up having a pretty conflicting relationship with Disney. Namely, English actor John Boyega expressed his support for Stenberg on Instagram amidst the bullying scandal, which was a great move on his part!
As you might remember from our earlier report, almost immediately after it was revealed that the series was canceled, a number of “fans” started bullying Amandla Stenberg on social media. This is an extremely harmful and abusive pattern of conduct that shouldn’t be permitted on the Internet. We’re not sure how the young actress responded to these messages—some of which are quite offensive and downright disgusting—but we do hope that she won’t take them seriously because they don’t come from actual Star Wars fans.
In a recent social media outing, which was posted after the show ended but before it was officially canceled, the young actress said the following:
In case you’re unable to open this, the comment goes as follows:
it takes a village to build a character, let alone twins 🙂 now that all of our show is out I have to thank the beautiful people who became my family on this show. starting with @kellina___ and @cassiejocraig, the best damn stuntwomen in the game, who guided me lovingly and with patience as I grew into a stunt actor, shaped and molded Osha and Mae alongside me with such finesse, and busted their asses to deliver incredible stunt work day in and out. I love you my dear sisters, and miss wearing our bunny hats in bed after getting our asses kicked all day. <333
Many “fans” used this post to bully the young actress, but then came John Boyega with a symbolic and noble support message, as you can see:

This is definitely a great thing and a sign that Stenberg is not alone in this, especially since the other actors from the series did not experience such bullying. The Star Wars fandom has become a very toxic group, and we just hope that the real fans will soon be able to filter out all the toxic haters who use the Internet to bully and abuse young people in the most appalling way.
