Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures is certainly one of the top-watched anime in the world, and well, one of the most bizarre, too. If you still haven’t seen any of the 158 episodes across five seasons (parts), out of which all are available on Netflix, you are probably wondering where to start. Netflix is streaming all five seasons, including the latest, Stone Ocean, so you can watch all episodes at any time, but where to start from?
You are probably aware of the fact that Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures is following a new story plot with new characters every season, which may make it difficult for you to follow up with all the stories and characters – true fans seem to enjoy it very much. The anime show is based on the supernatural fantasy series penned by Hirohiko Araki, with the first season premiering in 2012.
The fact that the show is running for 9 years already with 5 seasons and 158 episodes speaks in favor of having a faithful audience that knows how to appreciate the bizarre in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures. Since every season has its own premise and a new set of characters from the Joestar family, you can watch the series without following the order of the seasons. However, if you decide to do so, you might miss out on some references from previous seasons that do appear later, despite different characters and story arcs.
We do recommend you watch the seasons in their natural order, however, even if you start from the fifth and the latest part, Stone Ocean, you can still follow up with the story to some extent. Still, you’ll be missing out on noting character cameos and some juicy details involved. There is a clear leitmotif in the form of a villain that appears throughout all the parts of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures – DIO.
DIO is a vampire and the main nemesis of the Joestar family, so every character regardless of the season and the story plot, eventually faces DIO. You should watch all parts, one by one, as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures is a genuinely interesting show, however, if you are looking for the perfect season to jump in, you can start with Stardust Crusaders.
